Confident Individuals - Dance: Make Your Move

June 2016

Dancers from Newmarket Academy took part in the British Red Cross ‘Dance: Make your Move’ regional competition last weekend and they did fantastically and won!! The dancers are now through to the National finals at the Indigo O2 in London taking place on 3rd July. The competition, run by the British Red Cross encourages anyone aged 4 to 18 to take part, regardless of their ability. Primary, secondary and special schools, colleges, youth groups and disabled groups were all welcome – it’s for anyone who likes to dance. All dances must be between three and seven minutes long and based on some aspect of the Red Cross’ work – that could be anything from First Aid to the Earthquake in Nepal. Our dancers won the “Best interpretation of the theme’ award with their dance based on the tragedy in Nepal. Newmarket Academy competed against 4 other groups within their age category at the event.

Here, the students had the opportunity to see a production line in action and witness how concepts they have learnt about in class are put into practice for one of the top brands in the world.
