Day & Night Experiences

For earlybirds or night-owls, there’s plenty to do... or simply relax!

In addition to the opportunities during each cruise to discover and explore all the colourful sights and sounds provided by the ship’s fascinating ports of call, life on board is every bit as exciting and enjoyable, from the moment you rise to the time you retire to your cabin at day’s end. Organised by the Cruise Director and his team, and detailed in the Daily Programme, there are a host of daytime activities that you can choose to join as you wish, as well as themed evenings to enjoy. Daytime Fun

Perhaps you’re looking forward to testing your bridge skills in the card room, learning a new skill under the expert tutelage of an on-board craftsperson, or practising some steps on the dance floor with a dance instructor – there’s never any shortage of things to do during the day. In addition to the traditional port talks, which provide a background to the ship’s next destination, most cruises feature fascinating talks on a variety of subjects by experts in their fields, who are always happy to engage in lively conversation after delivering their lectures. Of course, should you wish to simply curl up in a quiet corner with a good book, you’re equally welcome.

Glittering Nights

However you choose to spend your days, it’s when the sun begins to drift towards and below the yardarm that entertainment on board ship takes off. Begin your evening with a cocktail in one of the bars, or catch the sun’s last rays on deck before you head to the restaurant for a delicious evening meal. Following the culinary highlight of the day and the chance to catch up with fellow diners, perhaps head for a ‘digestif’ in one of the bars or lounges, or take your seat in the show lounge, where the multi-talented troupe of entertainers await your company. A mixture of ‘Big Show’ nights, with singers and dancers, speciality acts and guest artists, cabaret and classical musicians all add to the enjoyment. As an alternative to the main show lounge, there are quieter corners on board, where a relaxed, convivial atmosphere helps you wind down in the company of new-found friends. For night owls, there’s always a dance floor to find, while for others, it’s a turn on the deck – hopefully under the stars – before you head to your cabin, never more than a short walk away.
