In an unprecedented time for travellers globally, a new Sandton hotel is pioneering a new hotel model and a new hospitality experience that might very well pave the way for what post-pandemic travel will look like. Hotel Sky, on the corner of Maude and West Street, is a stone’s throw from the Sandton International Convention Centre. (A second establishment is currently being constructed across the road from the Cape Town ICC on the Foreshore.) Hotel Sky has enlisted state-of-the-art hospitality

technology to make it possible for guests to book, check in and get to their room without interacting with another person. It’s all done via an app, and there’s a self-service check-in. Hotel Sky will also be the first hotel in South Africa (and possibly globally) to employ AI-powered robots to assist with guest relations, luggage, room service and more. And that’s not to say there are no creature comforts: Hotel Sky’s executive chef is Tony Kocke, as Michelin Star Chef! www.hotelsky.co.za
