Quick & easy test to detect food pathogens
The Hygiena™ Lateral Flow System (LFS) test is designed to detect food pathogens on environmental surfaces, in a variety of ready-to-eat food, dairy and fish products. The test is quick and simple to use and reliably detects one colony forming unit (cfu) bacteria in 25 grams of sample. This antibody-based method offers optimised media, minimum labour and material costs, making it a cost-effective tool for routine pathogen screening.
Easy pathogen screening
Using a unique combination of antibodies and highly engineered colloidal gold conjugate coated on the surface of a membrane, the Lateral Flow System yields clear and reliable results much faster than conventional,
culture-based testing. After a few simple steps, the sample wicks up the test strip by capillary action. Within ten minutes, two red lines appear if the target pathogen is present. Otherwise, only the control line appears, which indicates that the test has worked correctly.
Optimised media
The Lateral Flow System uses specifically designed media that facilitate the maximum recovery of both sublethally injured and healthy cells, while inhibiting closely related competitive flora.
Using this optimised media simplifies and shortens enrichment times.
Major assays to meet your needs
Full product line tests and media are available for Salmonella, Listeria and E. coli O157 (including O157:H7). Test strips have a long shelf life and can be stored at room temperature.
The Lateral Flow System test is an immunoassay alternative for routine pathogen screening. It has been certified by the AOAC Research Institute as Performance Tested Methods SM 080501.
