Delta Colours turns 10!

Delta Colours are thrilled to announce their 10th year anniversary.

Delta Colours was originally founded by Abe Louw and Shawn Hays in Atlanta, Georgia in 1995. The focus of the company then, was to supply the North American plastic, coatings and ink markets with their colour needs. Delta Colours filled a niche role and became a supplier of colour solutions, which was a fresh approach versus the traditional model of suppliers performing a basic logistical service as a catalogue distributor. This business plan was very successful, and the company and brand soon grew to become popular both with customers and suppliers.

After acquisition of operations in Atlanta in 2006, and returning to South Africa, Abe Louw established Delta Colours in South Africa in September 2009. The company started with two employees and grew to the current team of 15 with all warehousing and distribution outsourced to global distribution chains. The business is based in Franschhoek in the Western Cape (where it was originally established) and the current directors are Abe Louw, Petrus Scheepers and Charlene Saayman.

The Delta Colours approach was always to be a local supplier of world class quality products, offering a 24-hour turnaround on local deliveries as well as sample requests. This attracted the leading global producers to add their products to its colour basket making it a complete range of inorganic, organic and effect pigments. It is mostly due to the highly technical and professional calibre of its sales team and a focused approach, which results in excellent service to its customers.

The in-depth knowledge of global market trends in these relevant industries as well as the relations with all the global top brand manufacturers put Delta Colours in a unique advantage in this market. The company has a dominant supply position with most multinationals for this reason.

At Delta Colours everyone goes the extra mile to ensure consistent quality and service not only to the customer, but to all stakeholders involved. It is due to this dedication and enthusiasm from the entire team that has helped it witness such a milestone!

Its focus has predominantly been in the pigments arena, supplying various grades of powder pigments to the plastic masterbatch and coatings industries across South Africa. The last eight years saw the range expanding into the additives space supplying a range of specialised polymer additives and representing some world-class global producers. The office in Franschhoek is currently busy with the setup of a new in-house colour match laboratory. With this facility, Delta Colours will be able to assist some customers with quick and accurate recommendations for the best colour match to suit the desired application.

Delta Colours success is incomplete without the encouragement and support of its customers and they would like to thank all its customers for trusting them to supply excellent quality and service and an increasingly improved product basket. All requests, demands and feedback, have helped shape the company into what it is today.

Looking ahead, Delta Colours will continue to focus on growth within the South African and African markets, with the introduction of some new products especially in the additives space. Maintaining strong relations with key principles and customers is critical to growth for another decade to come.
