Excelsior Paints: Where GREEN is the most important colour

In response to recent water and power constraints and a growing sense of environmental responsibility, Excelsior Paints has embarked on a significant green initiative.

Excelsior Paints has scaled up its efforts, implementing its own water source and purification plant. Additionally, the entire roof of their facility will soon be covered in solar panels, complemented by a backup generator. This move towards self-sufficiency and sustainability demonstrates their commitment to going off the grid and beyond.

A standout element of their green consciousness is the ‘Return the Pack’ initiative. Currently, bins are placed in Leroy Merlin stores where consumers can drop off their empty or near-empty paint buckets. Excelsior Paints collects and recycles these buckets, even accepting those with residual paint. The reclaimed paint is reworked and donated to charity. Notably, Excelsior accepts paint buckets from any manufacturer, not just their own.

In line with their environmental responsibility, Excelsior has begun packing solvent-based products in recyclable plastic buckets. This initiative aligns with their green consciousness movement and positions them ahead of the game as they anticipate future government legislation on sustainability.

Excelsior Paints has also identified numerous gaps in the paint manufacturing sector, leading to exciting product launches during 2023 and 2024. These new products not only reflect their commitment to innovation but also their dedication to sustainability.

Rubberlastic

Rubberlastic is a non-toxic, water-based, single-pack pure acrylic rubberised waterproof coating with excellent elongation and elasticity. It can be used alone to build a high film thickness for waterproofing and bridging properties or with a waterproofing membrane to assist with bridging cracks and covering parapet wall overlaps. Excelsior Rubberlastic has excellent UV resistance, water repellent properties, and a 12-year life expectancy without needing a topcoat. It provides elongation over three times its original film and recovers back to its original form.

Low V.O.C., low odour, and lead-free, it is suitable for various applications:

  • Excellent adhesion to a variety of roof substrates (cement roof tiles, fibre cement roof sheets, asbestos sheeting, concrete, plaster, and wood)

  • Waterproofing flat roofs, parapets, wall, and chimney cappings, gutters, and roof screws

  • Sealing a wide variety of surfaces (concrete, plaster, asbestos roof sheeting, drywalling, and I.B.R. and galvanised iron roof sheeting)

  • Sealing small plaster cracks, lap joints, and flashings of roof sheeting subjected to structural movement

  • Limited use for areas with continual submerged water (eg, water features or ponds)

  • Suitable for applying above existing waterbased acrylic systems and over-coating with other water-based systems (eg, Excelsior Premium Satin Roof Acrylic)

  • Safe for harvesting rainwater (not for drinking)

  • Provides corrosion protection on properly primed metal substrates.
