Preparing for the future of packaging

On the market for over 70 years, the Italian Fabbri Group is a global industrial leader in the production and sale of machines, films, software, service and spare parts for food packaging. Since the very beginning, their motto has been “preserve without waste”. Active in more than 80 countries worldwide, Fabbri stands out for its constant attention to emerging market needs.

All Fabbri Group packaging films meet the new trend in the industry of encouraging the production of low carbon footprint foods, such as fish, laboratory meat or vegetal proteins (vegetarian/vegan). Ideal for the packaging of any food, the Fabbri films guarantee long-lasting protection and preservation.

Nature Fresh

The Fabbri Group have created two new sustainable packaging solutions that meet current packaging trends.

This is the first cling film in the world for automatic packaging with domestic and industrial compostability certification (EN 13432). It is also ideal for manual applications. Nature Fresh combines its biodegradability characteristics with the properties of transparency, extensibility, breathability and the mechanical strength of traditional materials. After use, it is sent for organic recycling through the flow of domestic or industrial composting, avoiding the long and costly processes associated with the selection and recycling of post-consumption plastics as well as the waste-to-energy treatment of undifferentiated waste.

In the last two years Nature Fresh has received several prestigious awards, such as the historical Italian Oscar of Packaging, the UK Packaging Awards (through the customer Westaway Sausages), the international Biopolymer Innovation Award and the AISOM Innovation Award. Today, Nature Fresh is also among the five finalists for the BioPlastics Award 2020/21.

Fabbri Hybrid

The unique new Fabbri Hybrid wrapping machine range introduces a new standard in the most advanced and flexible packaging technologies, guaranteeing the perfect packaging of fresh and very fresh products with any type of tray (recyclable plastic, bioplastic, cardboard, balsa wood, cellulose pulp, etc.), neutral or printed stretch film (traditional, biobased, compostable) and a labelling machine that handles traditional or compostable labels. As a consequence, adopting a fully compostable packaging or alternating the materials used according to customer requirements will no longer be a problem. Retailers and industrial packers will be able to maintain operations avoiding interruptions, technical adaptations and additional costs.

In this way, the Fabbri Group allows fresh food producers, small and medium-sized food industries and retailers to increase the shelf-life of products with an already low carbon footprint, at the same time further respecting the environment through the possibility of adopting a fully compostable packaging. •
