Why peristaltic hose pumps are ideal for precious metal mining

When it comes to pumps in mining, there is a high degree of difficulty in handling abrasive paste or slurry with varying density, over long distances and without frequent breakdowns.

This difficulty is compounded when chemicals are added. Traditionally, centrifugal pumps are widely used for thickener underflow applications, but pump impellers may last just a few weeks in these tough conditions. And, as the paste or slurry density increases towards the bottom of the underflow thickener, the pumps continue to run at the set speed, but flow rates decrease.

OVERCOMING OBSTACLES

Bredel peristaltic hose pumps overcome these obstacles as pump output is far less impacted by fluid dynamics such as paste density, viscosity, suction conditions and discharge pressure.

Nor are they affected by the abrasive or aggressive nature of paste and chemicals.

Bredel pumps are virtually maintenance-free.

The only wear part is the hose, which can be replaced in-situ in a matter of minutes, without any requirement for special tools.
