HAVANA

TRIP TO HAVANA, CUBA will take place May 9 to 17, 2012. This trip will have a strong emphasis on contemporary art, focusing on the 11th Havana Biennial; it will be the inaugural trip of the Contemporaries, NOMA’s new affinity group for those interested in contemporary art. Our visit to Havana will include guided tours through the biennial’s multiple sites, artist’s studio visits, and splendid accommodations at the Hotel Parque

Central, located in the heart of Old Havana. Please note that this will be high-energy trip that will require a great deal of walking and is not recommended for guests with mobility challenges. The Cuba trip will be just one of multiple events available to the Contemporaries. Activities also include studio visits and intimate talks with artists and art historians. The annual cost of joining this affiliate group is $1,000.

The museum is tentatively planning a second trip to Cuba this fall, with a more general historic focus, if demand warrants. If you would like to be included on a mailing list for forthcoming information on trips to Cuba, please contact Bill Fagaly (504) 658-4108 or email: bfagaly@noma.org. For more information on the Contemporaries please call (504) 658-4107 or email mdittmann@noma.org.
