Archeology (a.k.a Archaeology) is the new secondary profession in WoW Cataclysm. The basic premise of this skill is to survey new regions of Azeroth and discover treasures that reveal the ancient story of the region.
Archeology sites are designated by spades on the world map with each Warcraft race having their own dig sites. Covering Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Outland and Northrend, there are 4 dig sites in each continent for you to survey and gather fragments from. To do so, simply head over to the dig site (marked by a

spade on the map) and use your survey skill to spawn the Archaeology Tripod scope. This scope has a light that changes from red to yellow or green based on whether you’re near or far from an artifact / fossil.
Remember that you need to be at level 20 to train the Archeology Skill. Based on your skill level, one of these artifacts / fossils will spawn on the ground before you when the tripod scope light turns green: Fossil Night Elf Troll Dwarf Draenei Orc Nerubian Vrykul Tol’vir

To train the Archeology skill, you can be either Horde or Alliance. If you’ve chosen an Alliance race then you can train at: Ironforge Stormwind Darnassus Exodar
As a Horde race, you can train at: Orgrimmar Thunderbluff Undercity Silvermoon City
