WELCOME Welcome to the Media Management Capstone Graduate Student showcase. This semester, students and faculty faced one of the most unprecedented global challenges of our time. Yet our students were able to successfully complete their final required project for degree completion. Proving their capacity to build upon what they have learned in the program, each delivered a comprehensive work product that is poised to propel them in their careers. The projects demonstrate the depth of their management skills, knowledge of their subject-area, and the critical and creative thinking they will need to survive and thrive in their chosen professions. Ultimately, this work is testimony to our students’ ingenuity and resourcefulness, and to our faculty’s continuous commitment to teaching and mentoring. CAPSTONE PROJECT The Media Management Graduate Program Capstone is the final course required of all Master of Science candidates for degree completion. The goal is for students to synthesize what they have learned in the program and design a project that will help to move them forward in their careers. Student centered, the individually defined Capstone projects align with specific competencies related to the student’s chosen professional interest. Students demonstrate their core management skills, subject knowledge, critical and creative thinking with their Capstone projects and presentations.

SARTHAK GARG x-ed x-ed is an online sexuality education platform that seeks to empower people to have a holistic understanding of emotional and physical intimacy through its content. It’s sex-positive, shame-free, and for all ages and stages. It’s a space that normalizes the conversation around sex and provides evidence-based content, for people to make healthy choices that align with their values and to have the sex life they desire. Sarthak is a Media Management graduate. He believes, sex and sexuality, like many other things are an essential part of the human experience and should be discussed confidently and openly. He hopes to use what he has learned to create a successful content strategy for x-ed.
LEAH RAINHA GOMES My Belly Look MyBellyLook is a unique pregnancy fashion guide curated for women who don’t compromise on fashion that ceases an expectant mothers never ending search for clothes that fit by providing style recommendations throughout their pregnancy journey. Experienced event planner and casting executive. Leah spent 2 years in Mumbai, India, interning and working at various media agencies to grow her knowledge and experience in the world of Media and Entertainment. She is currently leading the Content Strategy Team at Media X Women. A strong team player, she believes every individual contribution makes a team more powerful and it shows in the outcome.

NICOLE IGNACIO DE JESĂšS Donum Donum is a social platform designed to streamline and make the gift-giving process efficient. Through sharable self-curated wishlists, users can shop and interact seamlessly. With Donum, both the gift giver and recipient will relish in the surprise and emotion of a joyful and perfect gift exchange. Nicole Ignacio is a Graphic designer passionate for problem solving. The unification of design and functionality is always her primary focus.
GABRIELLA MELAKU Womenify: Women Unite Podcast Womenify is a podcast focused on providing a reliable space for young women of color to come and address topics about adversity faced on a daily basis. The goal to establishing a community-based setting receiving mentoring services will help create more empowering sisterhood outlets in the media industry. Gabriella Melaku is a Media Management graduate student at The New School. She focused her academic coursework on media marketing, business development, and project leadership.

REBECCA JAMES Giru Giru is an educational enhancement gaming platform that is poised to add value to the Peacemakers program learning experience at the Harlem Children’s Zone. Rebecca James is an administrative & marketing professional in the tech industry. She specializes in evaluating processes and providing thoughtful assessments of systemic problems.
URVASHI AJMERA Work/Play A blog to help amplify, empower, and advance women in the media industry through networking, resources, mentorship, career advice, and lifestyle content. Urvashi is a Brand Strategist with experience creating and managing content for brands across various portfolios. She has worked on global brands including Unilever’s Tresemmé, Pond’s, Magnum, Dove, Lakmé, and P&G’s Always. Having worked at a WPP creative agency in Mumbai, Urvashi had the experience creating social media content, leading product photo/video shoots, and crafting the content strategy for brands across portfolios.

EDUARDO AMARAL Business Plan of The NY Ad Journal Business plan of The NY Ad Journal -- a social media journal to help marketers with ad creative inspiration and insights. Eduardo Amaral is a Growth Marketing Analyst at Brooklinen and Editor in Chief of The NY Ad Journal.
FEILIN GAO The K.I.N.D. The K.I.N.D. is a non-profit multimedia destination created to support all self-identifying women from around the globe with a desire to thrive in their local and global communities. By nurturing meaningful connections and establishing new networks, the women assert their voice and power as they work to make radical change in the world. With seven years of professional practice in journalism and media production, both in China and the US, Feilin Gao is about to graduate with a master’s degree in Media Management. Carrying on the two years of professional learning at The New School, Feilin Gao is now determining her social calling as a woman in color and her career commitment as a content producer in the project of The K.I.N.D.

KARI NILSEN Pop Pop is a pop-up pioneer and experiential marketing agency in Norway. The company will create customized, unforgettable brand experiences while also making the host locations more vibrant. Pop will help businesses achieve their marketing goals by targeting and authentically engaging millennials consumers with an eye towards building brand loyalty. Kari Nilsen has a background in politics, communication, and media. She has been a personal communication advisor for three different CEOs and understands the value of good storytelling. She is an experienced leader and is tech-savvy. Kari is always on top of the latest marketing trends.
HUNTER BUSHWELL Crewmmunity Entertainment Services Crewmmunity Entertainment Services seeks to improve entry level job opportunities and connections for recent graduates and early professionals in the Entertainment Industry. By connecting the creative community on one app, collaboration and networking will be improved and the number of projects produced will be increased along with expanding the scope of visibility. Hunter spent two years working in Talent Representation in both New York City and Los Angeles before returning for his Masters in January. Throughout his time at The New School, Hunter produced two short films, one of which he wrote and directed. He is eager to combine his past experience with his new skills and knowledge to create a career within production.

AALOK RATHOD Uncia Productions Uncia Productions is a podcast services company, helping brands and individuals create and market compelling audio stories. A diversely talented group, our team brings years of experience, expertise and insight to the table. We hail from different backgrounds but share a common passion for bringing brands to life. We do that through impactful audio stories that entertain, educate, move, and inspire audiences. Aalok Rathod is the Co-Founder of Uncia Productions. Aalok believes that great stories lie at the intersection of culture and human emotions. By creating a space for diverse narratives, Aalok hopes to bring the world a little closer one story at a time.

CHARLES MALONE Crafty Alcohol Media We are creating a craft alcohol savvy educated community that makes compelling content for craft alcohol companies by telling their story, describing their products in detail, their fermentation and distillation techniques, celebrating transparency/honesty and highlighting what makes their products unique. Charles Malone is a seasoned salesperson, a musician, and a U.S. Navy veteran. He has enjoyed his time at The New School and is looking forward to his future in media.
KIMBERLY SPRUILL AudioLogo AudioLogo is an audio solutions service that aims to provide audio clips and custom sounds to web and app designers, digital content producers and firms looking to enhance their overall consumer sensory experience and increase brand recognition when consuming digital content. Kimberly Spruill is a Media and Marketing professional with vast experience in content strategy and production. With a background spanning radio programming, audio production, project management, sports and more, she is looking to positively impact various sectors of the media industry.

NICOLAS RANDLE The Account Management Starter Pack The Account Management Starter Pack is a reference guide designed to get junior members of the Account Management team at true[X] acclimated in their roles. With new media entrants coming from an array of backgrounds and disciplines, this guide attempts to provide some orientation into our business in relation to the larger media landscape. Nicolas Randle is a Texas native, with a background in media production, marketing, and sales. While initially he wanted to pursue filmmaking full-time, he’s now focused on gleaning insights from advertising-technology that will advance his strategic career objectives.
ANDREA V. ZARCZYNSKI CondĂŠ Nast & Facebook: Partnership for Profit This project proposes an innovative paid subscription service in partnership with Facebook for CondĂŠ Nast global media company to establish a new source of revenue, grow a larger, more engaged audience, and set a new standard for the future of legacy magazine media. Andrea is a professional, award-winning journalist and contributor to Forbes.com. She is experienced in editing and directing editorial operations for leading media companies across the country. Her expertise also includes copywriting, brand and website/app implementation and management, digital marketing, analytics, audience development, social media, and strategic content and project management.

KUSHAL PHATARPEKAR Subscribe and Win! Media organizations are experimenting with various subscription models but are under-using a valuable content-type—Video. An examination of the media landscape and the strategies at play for pushing subscriber growth. Kushal is a data-driven multi-platform content strategist obsessed with connecting audiences to novel news products. He started his career as a journalist and has reported from South Asia, the US, Europe & Australia.
DEBORAH ODUKOYA UserView UserView is an analysis based on empirical data and research collected to determine better user interaction ideas for entertainment companies, specifically on streaming services, which will inform users on how they can improve their experience and help companies create an improved experience. Deborah Odukoya is a graduate student with extensive knowledge in psychology and digital media. Her professional goal includes becoming a UX Researcher in the entertainment industry.

ALBERTO JOSÉ ECHEVERRI ORTIZ Creating an equitable tech workforce with ProTalento Latin America has great potential to develop a STEM workforce to meet the market’s future demands. ProTalento.org is a talent-based startup that aims to accelerate careers and upskill 16-35 y/o professionals in emerging and dominant technology fields.This management solution discusses the challenges of bridging education, social, and gender gaps in Colombia. And, it aims for an equitable roadmap using Customer Success Management (CSM) and human-centered design approaches. Alberto José is a Digital Strategist and Consultant, passionate about People, Culture, and Technology, with 9+ years of experience in Digital Marketing and AdTech. He’s driven by enabling growth in socially-impactful and sustainable startups. Right now, he desires to leverage his experience and skills to support others to attain success, and exceed shared goals using meaningful technology.

Suelynn Woods is a Detroit native with a passion for Media and Marketing. She has worked as a Television Producer for MetroArts Detroit and on the Creative Services Team for the WDIV-TV/Local 4 News Station.
HILLARY RICHMOND City Hearts Digital This Capstone will focus on tools for the successful future growth of City Hearts Digital. City Hearts Digital is a creative marketing based startup and online community that aims to inspire health and wellness and spirituality oriented creative entrepreneurs.
Hillary Richmond has a background in music and creative marketing. She has lived in Los Angeles, New York City, Nashville, and Boston.
