HAPPY AND VIBRANT SETTING PAGE 2: MT MARIA COLLEGE, MITCHELTON DEVELOPING A GROWTH MINDSET

V3 - QSTE01Z01FE

Fostering strong minds and compassionate hearts MT Maria College, Mitchelton, is a Catholic coeducational college for students from Years 7-12 with a vision for students to develop a growth mindset to support selfdirected and lifelong learning, according to principal Glenn McConville With a modern campus and facilities in Brisbane’s northern suburbs and a longstanding professional teaching team, the college has experienced significant growth in recent years. “The college upholds 40 years of Marist tradition of Catholic education to build a community which nurtures the academic, cultural, and spiritual growth of students as they mature into meaningful, compassionate, and confident contributors to society,” Mr McConville said. “Guided by the school motto of Strong Mind – Compassionate Heart, students build positive relationships, accept the differences and development of every person and work hard using their gifts and talents for the good of others.”

Students are taught to value people and creation over possessions and use Mary’s life as their own guide to foster justice and peace for all. The college provides extensive curricular and co-curricular offerings including musical, cultural, sporting, and social justice programs. “Learning experiences focus on both individual and group needs to deliver a holistic education that is personal, practical, and based on real-world examples and experiences,” Mr McConville said. Tours of the college campus are conducted on the second and last Friday of the month. Please go to the college office by 8.45am on the day. Tel: 3550 3400 mtmaria.com.au

Two unique colleges. One school of thought. Moreton Bay College and Moreton Bay Boys’ College run separate, single-sex, school campuses. However, we share the same philosophy on delivering a quality education by recognising each student’s individual learning needs. We firmly believe that boys and girls learn differently, at a different pace and in different ways. They can do this in parallel, but come together to learn from each other through pastoral, cultural, sport and extra-curricular activities. This encourages respectful social interaction between our boys and girls, which helps them prepare for life after school. To learn more contact our Registrar on 07 3249 9322. You’ll see how two colleges work together to give our students the best of both worlds.
