COMMUNITY GRANTS FUNDING PROGRAMME 2020 Community Groups across the County are now invited to apply for funding assistance within the South Dublin County Council’s annual Community Grants Programme. The Community Grants Programme is aimed at providing financial assistance to Community and Voluntary Groups who are responding to locally identified needs within their communities. The Mayor Cllr Ed O’Brien welcomed the launch of these Grants and says that this year more than ever the Grants will be of great assistance to local clubs and community organisations. With clubs closed for long periods this year the

opportunity to gather funds through the normal sources has been removed and therefore the opportunity to avail of Grant funding to help continue the wonderful community work all of these organisations do should not be overlooked.

A wide range of Community Development, Sports Development and Community Events funding are now being made available for groups to apply online. The Community Grants Booklet and the Online Grants Application is available on the Council’s Website at: www.sdcc.ie/en/services/ community. No funding application deadlines have

been applied this year to the community grants, but groups are encouraged to submit their application as their earliest convenience and these will be assessed

in turn as they are received by the Community Services Dept. The Local Community Development team and the

Sports Recreation Officers are also available to assist any local groups within any queries or advice required and further information on all aspects of the

grants available can be obtained by contacting the Community Services Dept: Tel 01-4149270 or by email at: communitygrants@ sdublincoco.ie

MENTAL HEALTH IN SPORTS SURVEY

Mark Ward TD has recently launched a Mental Health in Sports Survey, along with spokesperson on Sport, Chris Andrews TD. The survey invites sports organisations and groups to submit their experiences of early prevention, early intervention and coach education regarding mental health.

Teachta Ward said: “Having worked for many years in front line mental health and addiction services and volunteered as a coach and mentor on my local soccer

and GAA clubs, I have a keen interest in this area “Sinn Féin are launching this Mental Health In Sports survey to inform us on how we can improve mental health awareness and skills for coaches involved with sports clubs across the country. It seeks to outline Sinn Féin’s vision for mental health in sports in Ireland. “Currently there are 1.7 million people who participate in sports in Ireland in 12,000 different clubs There are 430,000 volunteers involved in these clubs and without these

vital volunteers, sports clubs would not exist. “Participation in sports is well documented to be beneficial for our mental health and overall wellbeing. There is a definite link showing the positive benefits of physical activity on mental health. “However, athletes of all abilities are not immune to developing a mental illness, nor are they protected from mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. These have become more prevalent in modern sports

and society in general.

“This survey will inform us to look at the gaps in sports mental health policies; focusing on prevention, early intervention and coach education in current sporting organisations. We want to see Mental Health modules implemented

within National Sporting Bodies coach education curriculum. “Coachcentred interventions workshops could be a vital for positive change for athlete mental health. “I am joined by ex-Irish soccer International Caroline Thorpe, who has played for Arsenal and Leeds, and

Sean Kavanagh founder of the Irish Homeless World cup team. Caroline spoke recently about her own journey with mental illness as an elite athlete and Sean has encountered many young people who despite previously being involved in sports fell through the cracks of society.”

CALL FOR REDUCTION IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT FARES Young Fine Gael is calling for a reduction in public transport fares for people under the age of 26. The organisation has repeatedly called for this measure to be introduced and follows on from our recent Public Transport campaign. According to research by Deutsche Bank, Dublin commuters pay the second mostexpensive monthly public transport fares in the world: €114.95. YFG believes that by reducing fares to prices that are more in line with the European average, Ireland could see an increase in the uptake of

public transport, thereby reducing our overall carbon emissions. Young people make up a large share of those who are unemployed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, we believe that particular consideration should be given to significant discounts for under26s to alleviate the additional stress of transportation costs in this period of economic uncertainty. The proposal is included in Young Fine Gael’s Pre-Budget Submission: Striving for Progress, which was unveiled at the end of August.

PFIZER WANT TO BE PART OF THE FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19 Tánaiste Leo Varadkar and Minister Simon Harris were in town recently to visit Pfizer Grangecastle and formally launch a new internship incentive scheme. They were accompanied by local T.D. Emer Higgins and Councillor Shirley O’Hara

who attended a tour of the facility with them.

Speaking from the plant in Grange Castle An Tánaiste said, “The pharmaceutical industry is one of those industries that’s going to help us get out of the

current economic recession that we’re in, and Pfizer Grangecastle is one of the places in Ireland where they’re helping to do some of the work on developing a Covid vaccine.” Deputy Emer Higgins said,

LOCAL CLLR CALLS FOR ACTION TO BE TAKEN ON SCRAMBLERS AND QUADS Local Tallaght Cllr. Charlie O’Connor has called on the Chief Executive of the local authority to take immediate action on Scramblers and Quads which remains a serious issue in many communities across Dublin. Cllr O’Connor has tabled a motion to address the on-going issues and the need for legislation to tackle the issues. “Gardaí have called for additional powers to deal with this issue. The scourge of loud, intimidating scramblers and quad bikes on public roads and parks is destroying the quality of life in many estates throughout the country. “Streets and parks that should be local amenities are being transformed into no-go areas by dangerous driving on scramblers. I have raised the issue of scramblers and quads with the Department

“It was great to get a tour of the Pfizer facility in Grangecastle and see firsthand the work that’s going on as Pfizer prepares to play it’s part in the global fight against Covid-19. Pfizer is already a leading expert when it comes to the production of many

vaccines and I hope that someday soon we’ll see it play a role in producing a Covid-19 vaccine.”

Councillor Shirley O’Hara said it was really encouraging to hear Pfizer talk about plans for developing a potential

Coronavirus vaccine. “Life hasn’t been the same for any of us since Covid-19 came to our shores. It’s really encouraging to hear pharma companies explain what they are currently doing to develop a vaccine and I wish them the very best in their trials.”

of Justice and hope we have some movement on a solution in the coming months. “In 2017 South Dublin County Council convened a taskforce consisting of SDCC, Dublin City Council, Fingal County Council, Dept of Justice, An Garda Siochana, the Road Safety Authority and Motocross Ireland to examine the issue of scramblers being driven in public parks and open spaces. “Some of the issues which arose at meetings of the task force in 2017 and 2018 were that the Gardai do not currently have the power to pursue scrambler bikes, to stop them, to impound them, to pursue them to other locations and to question the owners and drivers about their movements. “We want to see this issue be tackled seriously in the coming months,” concluded Cllr O’Connor.

REA HAS LAUNCHED A DEDICATED ONLINE SALES PLATFORM BIDNOW.IE

National real estate group REA has launched a dedicated online sales platform under new name BidNow.ie which allows their agents to sell properties in three alternative ways to the traditional model. REA agents will now have the facility to offer properties for sale via individual or group online auctions, host live-streamed in-room auctions and online private treaty sales.

The nationwide group of 55 estate agencies have a superb record in the online auction space, and their individual and regional auctions have achieved a success rate of over 70% since December 2017 – with sold properties averaging prices of 16% in excess of AMV. “We are changing the way property is being sold in order to improve efficiency

and assist in bringing sales to a successful conclusion,” said REA Chairman Anthony McGee. “As well as the more anonymous online auctions, we will be facilitating both national and local in-room auctions, with each agent having the facility to host live-streamed events.

local knowledge is vital in the future success of our online offering. The REA agent will set a competitive AMV at the beginning of the campaign, which will be realistic and designed to create interest.

The online private treaty option on BidNow.ie will allow REA agents to fix a time and date to bring a property sale to conclusion if there are a number of interested bidders. BidNow. ie will give our agents a full suite of options to offer prospective vendors, and will advise on which will work best for each property.

“For the buyer, viewings are either carried out online or by appointment with an REA agent.” Bidders will sign in after registering for an auction passport, and will pay a returnable €5,100 deposit to bid (inclusive of €100 administration fee). The successful bidder then pays the balance of the 10% deposit and the sales contracts are executed electronically.

“For the vendor, our online auctions are an efficient way to sell, with the option of combining all the benefits of the traditional auction room with the speed and transparency of going online. “Our agents’

The vendor then issues closing documents and the sale closes within 28 days, which is considerably less than through an offline sale. The entire bidding process is conducted online with the sales contract and other

legal documents available in advance on the BidNow. ie platform.

CLONDALKIN HOUSING CONSULTATION The Public consultation is now open for the proposed council housing at Lindasfarne / Melrose. Local Clondalkin Councillor Francis Timmons commented ‘’The consultation is now open

for the proposed council housing at Lindasfarne / Melrose. I have noted in relation to Lindasfarne / Melrose, the proposed houses cannot be moved across the road due to the services beneath. I also note

the Green field opposite will be upgraded as part of the SDZ when the houses beside Ashwood are built and while I welcome this some attempts must be made to make this safer in the short term and a pedestrian light would be required to allow safe crossing of this busy road if it is to be parkland. I request that SDCC look and see what can be done and report back. It would need to be secured so scramblers and quads do not take it over.” Cllr Timmons has asked if there is a way in which part of the houses could be allocated to people from Bawnogue who are on the list. The local Councillor added “I have requested a list of sites the council own in Bawnogue that it is possible to build on and for the greater Clondalkin area. The lack of playspace in Bawnogue has been raised by me since 2014 and I have suggested that the Bawnogue Community Centre be considered

because it’s secure. I Have asked for some feedback on this issue and I have also requested an anti-social report on the Bawnogue area.” Cllr Timmons concluded ‘’I am glad to hear that the next part 8 will be for step down

accommodation for older people this is something I have been asking for since I was elected’’ Submissions or observations in relation to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and

sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made as follows: Online at https://consult. sdublincoco.ie up to 11.59pm on Thursday, 8th October 2020.

PLAN TO BUILD 250 BUILT-TO-RENT APARTMENTS IN PALMERSTOWN IS CRITICISED David Gardiner, Workers’ Party rep. for Palmerstown-Fonthill, has criticised the decision taken by An Bord Pleanála to approve a plan to build 250 built-torent apartments in Palmerstown. “I’m disappointed and frustrated by the decision taken by An Bord Pleanála to approve the plan to build 250 built-to-rent apartments on the Vincent Byrne site.” “Housing needs to be built with the right facilities and infrastructure in place, but this simply isn’t the case with the proposal. The traffic problem at the junction of Palmerstown Village will inevitably worsen.” “The fact that not one unit in the plan is a three-bedroom apartment shows that the

development is not aimed at providing long-term housing for families. Although single people, couples without children and groups of friends obviously need housing too, a development of this scale should be providing for those seeking a permanent home.” “The plan is another cash grab by developers and landlords at the expense of renters and the community. Dublin’s rental market is extortionate, high-cost housing with a lack of facilities is no solution.” “The Workers’ Party is organising a protest against this decision on the Vincent Byrne site on Saturday, September 12th at 1pm. We hope to see as many people as possible stand with us against the plan.”

COMMUNITY IN CLONDALKIN CELEBRATE LOCAL STORY WRITER A short story written by Líle Ní Annracháin Frost, a resident of Clondalkin was shortlisted from almost 500 stories from around Ireland and was published in the Stories from the Waterside book during Heritage Week. Recently FOTC (Friends of the Camac) and Thomas Carolan, Community Water Officer with LAWPRO (the Local Authority Waters Programme) gathered to present Líle with a copy of the new publication featuring her story.

Several members of FOTC, a community group that works to protect and enhance the River Camac also entered stories to the competition. In recognition of the waterrelated stories inspired

by this competition, and to coincide with Water Heritage Day (the last Day of Heritage Week) FOTC based their quarterly newsletter around these stories featuring excerpts from each of the stories. The competition ran in April and May during the COVID-19 lockdown. It focused on collecting stories based on people’s memories and reflections around their local river, lake, wetland or coastal area. Over 500 entries were received from across the Island of Ireland in both English and Irish, and there was also an Under 18 category. The competition was organised by the Local Authority Waters Programme

(LAWPRO) in partnership with The Heritage Council and the Heritage Officers Programme, Waterways Ireland and Inland Fisheries Ireland. The shortlisted and winning stories were published in Stories from the Waterside, making it a unique collection of personal stories connected with Ireland’s rivers, lakes, estuaries and beaches.

Líle’s story beautifully illustrates growing up beside the River Galey in Kerry, and how it was central to her life and imagination – “ Bhí páirt lárnach ag an abhainn

sin agus ar Dhroichead na hAbhann i mo shaoI agus i mo shamhlaíocht agus mé ag fás aníos”. The Stories from the waterside publication was launched on Water Heritage Day, which took place on Sunday 23rd of August, at the end of National Heritage Week. It is also available to view and download at www.

watersandcommunities. ie For further details see Facebook.com/ LAWPROteam. New volunteers are always welcome to join. The October Cleanup day will be held on Saturday 3rd October. Meeting at the Clondalkin Leisure Centre Car park at 10.00am.

Thomas Carolan, Community Water Officer said, “It’s great to have a South Dublin resident shortlisted and for their story to be included in the final publication. LAWPRO and the partner organisations were delighted that Stories from the Waterside captured the imagination of both young and old during lockdown. It gave people a chance to reflect on and document their individual connections with water and wildlife. The story by Líle Ní Annracháin Frost entitled “Móinéar na hAbhann” focused on the Galey River in County Kerry. Although the story was not about a river in South Dublin, it shows the close attachment people have with rivers, lakes and coastal waters even when they no longer live beside them. There were however a number of entries to the competition inspired by local waterbodies in South Dublin particularly relating to the River Camac. Some of these stories submitted were from former Clondalkin residents Paul Nixon (USA) and Tom Boggins (New Zealand ) who no longer live in the vicinity of the Camac, which

again reflects people’s lasting affinity with local waterways similar to how Líle’s story recalled her local river in Kerry.

MEN ARE URGED TO LOOK AFTER THEIR HEALTH IN PROSTATE CANCER CAMPAIGN

Neale Richmond TD is working with the Marie Keating Foundation to raise awareness of prostate cancer and to break the stigma that men can experience when speaking about their health.

Deputy Richmond said: “Last year I was delighted to take part in the Marie Keating Foundation’s ‘Stand up for your Prostate’ campaign which was aimed at empowering men to feel comfortable discussing their health with friends and relatives and to get checked regularly. “Prostate cancer is the most common male cancer in Ireland, with over 3,350 men diagnosed with the illness every year. “Unfortunately, like many, my family has been touched by this terrible disease. This year I am delighted to lend my support to Marie Keating’s Blue September campaign to continue to raise awareness on this important issue. “Men often do not talk openly about our health; in fact, threequarters of men claim they have never had a conversation with a close male relative

or friend about their prostate health. Given that you are 2.5 times more likely to develop prostate cancer if a close relative has had it, this is concerning. “Many men with prostate cancer show no symptoms at all and so it is crucial that those over 50 talk to their doctor about prostate cancer. If detected early, over 90% of men will survive. “I would encourage men to use this opportunity to discuss their health with friends and family, and work towards these conversations becoming second nature. Awareness is key. “If we take the lead to talk about our health with our brothers, fathers, children and friends, together we can bring about change, one conversation at a time. “I will be writing to all my colleagues in the Oireachtas to have that conversation, as well as sending each of them a Marie Keating Foundation ‘Stand up for your Prostate’ pin,” Deputy Richmond concluded.

BYRNE INSPIRES SECOND HALF ESKER COMEBACK By Aron Hegarty

Esker Celtic 3 Wayside Celtic 2 Aaron Byrne scored a second half double as Esker Celtic twice came from behind to win a gripping Sunday LSL Division 3 clash with Wayside Celtic recently. Esker trailed at the start and end of the first period, but winger Byrne netted twice after the restart to complete a remarkable turnaround at Willsbrook Park. First Byrne fired in a low shot to level minutes after the break, then applied a neat finish in the 93rd minute to win it. A late goal was required to settle their first meeting in August,

where Wayside won 2-0, and again there was to be late drama to decide the outcome of the return fixture. Both sides went on the offensive throughout the match and this was evident as early as the first minute when Wayside went in front through captain Ciaran Mooney, who took advantage of indecision in the home defence to score. Esker hit back in the 12th minute to equalise when Liam Treacy fired the ball into the roof of the net. The hosts began to get more of a foothold in midfield as the half wore on and carved out some decent chances. Most notably from striker Shane O’Neill, whose lob

sailed just past the post and shot straight at the keeper following an advancing run. However it was the visitors who took advantage of a mix-up in the home defence to retake the lead with Ramish Rizwan slotting into an empty net on the stroke of halftime. Just three minutes into the second period, Esker were again level when the visiting defence failed to deal with a bounce from a high cross and Byrne was on hand to fire into the corner. Wayside upped the tempo following the concession and responded with several threatening attacks past the hour mark. Replacement Joe O’Connor

and Oisin McLaughlin both missed half-chances then Rizwan was denied in a oneon-one with Esker keeper Jason Gibbons. The resulting corner was headed off the line and moments later, substitute Luke Wevill pulled his shot wide at the other end after being sent through from a long ball forward. The

away side pressed in the final quarter with Rizwan again being thwarted by Gibbons and Shane Kerins coming to the hosts’ rescue in clearing off the line. As both teams began to tire, the contest looked to be heading for a draw until Byrne broke through on goal with seconds remaining and slotted the ball past Rameel Rizwan to win it for Esker.

VALUE YOUR TIME By Brónagh Lyons We all have the same hours in the day so how come some can achieve more than others? Have you ever been extremely busy but realised at the end of the day you’ve achieved nothing? Do you ever feel like you are running around in circles and going nowhere fast? Value your time. Time is our most valuable asset. We could have 110 years of it or 1 minute of it, noone knows. THAT is what makes it so valuable. Money, cars, homes etc we can win and lose but time we can never get back. How much is your time worth? Are you living a life you love? Who are you surrounding yourself with? What sort of conversations are you having? How do you spend your day? Do you have time just for you? What about family time? Time with friends? Time on your passion and interests? Do you take time to grow your mind? Do you nourish your body? Where does your time go? It is important to note here that we all have different interests and goals and priorities. We are all in different circumstances and have different commitments and responsibilities and that is ok. The point here is, life is too short. Value how you spend your time and who you spend it with. Value self-care and working towards your dreams. Cherish the time you have with your loved ones. Nourish your body and feed your soul. We only have one life, this is not a dress rehearsal.

The future of the solicitors’ profession is bright after 1,500 secondary school students learned legal fundamentals through the Law Society of Ireland’s inaugural Legal Ambitions Summer School this summer.

“Legal Ambitions was specially designed for Transition and fifth year students. It was launched by the Law Society of Ireland’s Law School in July,” explains Law Society of Ireland Director of Education T P Kennedy. “At such a challenging time for students and parents, the Summer School provided four weeks of free, highly-engaging, online legal education.” “We are proud to have been able to channel our world-leading educational IT facilities and breadth of legal expertise into an accessible, inspiring, and age-appropriate resource for so many students across Ireland.” 16-year-old Emma Kelly from Dublin, one of the Legal

Ambitions’ students, says the Summer School broadened her vision of law both as a career and in her daily life. “Every week I looked forward to taking some time to learn more about law and the different aspects of law.” “I have always been interested in law as my mum works in law. Legal Ambitions gave me the opportunity to hear from experienced solicitors and learn about career areas that are available after studying law in college.” “I would definitely consider studying law after school because of everything I learned at the Summer School.”

a great initiative by the Law Society to encourage young people who have legal ambitions to explore some aspects of the profession in more depth. The modules were very easy to navigate and the whole summer school was very user-friendly and innovative.”

Emma’s mum, Sinead Kelly, said Legal Ambitions gave her daughter an “invaluable insight into the legal landscape in Ireland.” “As a solicitor myself, it was so encouraging to see how she was beginning to grasp some legal concepts and we had some interesting conversations about various concepts such as mens rea and actus reus – the “guilty mind” and “guilty act” elements of criminal law.” “This is

Mr Murray noted “The Leaving Certificate is a stepping stone for students as they progress on to the next phase of their lives, but it does not define them or their abilities as a person. MOTORING LIFE

WITH

ALL-NEW RENAULT SUV WILL ‘CAPTUR’ YOUR HEART By Breda Corrigan

A pioneer of the small SUV market, the Captur has sold more than 1.2 million units since its launch in 2013, rapidly becoming the best selling model in its class across Europe. In a sector that has become extremely competitive, the recently launched allnew Renault Captur has reinvented itself without losing the unique identity that made the original such a success. Featuring athletic and dynamic new looks, an even more welcoming and practical interior, and setting new technology standards, the new Captur is more grown-up and upmarket than ever. Strong SUV Identity;

The new Captur is graced with an even stronger SUV identity than before, and is an unmistakable presence on the road. The totally redesigned exterior is more modern, distinctive and expressive, yet it also remains true to Renault’s core design values. Longer than before by 110mm and with a higher waistline, the All-New Captur has a true SUV stance, which is enhanced by the tough-looking front and rear protection skid plates, the chunky protective mouldings that run the entire length of the lower body, and the prominent wheel arch extensions. Factor in the distinctively contoured wings, scalloped sides and the ‘floating roof’ treatment, and the All-New Captur’s sleek profile makes it instantly recognisable. At the front is a wider grille, while the AllNew Captur’s very expressive front bumper features two wide air deflectors in front of the wheel arches that help limit turbulence and reduce aerodynamic drag, helping to further improve fuel economy. Upmarket Appearance; The All-New Captur’s appearance is pushed further upmarket by the careful use of chrome trim for the window surrounds, the bodyside mouldings and the inserts set into the front wings. The material is also used to embellish the boldly designed tailgate. Another big advance is the standard fitment of 100 percent LED headlamps across the range. Surrounded by Renault’s trademark C-Shape daylight running light signature,

these powerful units are seamlessly integrated into the design, with elements of the chrome grille running into the lamps. The slim rear lights on the All-New Captur retain the C-Shape light signature that typifies modern Renault design, while also providing the illusion of an extra wide vehicle. Colour & Customisation; Adding further visual appeal are the inclusion of new exterior colours, which offer remarkable depth and sheen, and also emphasise the Captur’s athletic, dynamic design. In total, 11 bodywork colours, 4 contrasting roof colours and 3 external customisation packs are available, giving a unique potential in this segment of 90 possible colour combinations. The Captur has always been recognised for its customisation options - and the All-New Captur goes even further with a greater variety of options and new colours inside, and out.

The interior of the All-New Captur can also be customised with a choice of seven different colour combinations. The Caramel, Blue, Red and Turquoise packs embellish the air vents and the base of the gear lever, while the Light Grey and Orange packs feature inserts for the inner doors, dashboard and upholstery, providing no fewer than 18 interior colour configurations. Additionally, there are eight ambient lighting colours for the inner doors and the base of the floating centre console, all selected via the MULTISENSE system settings. Three Generously-Equipped Trim Levels; There are three trim choices in the new Captur – entry-level Play, Mid-spec Iconic, and range-topping S-Edition. From entry level upwards, all versions of the new Captur include 17” wheels, multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, full LED lights and Automatic Climate Control. Moving up the range adds more standard features, including the contrasting roof, an intuitive 9.3” touchscreen, stylish alloy wheel designs, and a comprehensive

ADAS safety suite including E-Call, Lane Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition and AEBS. Captur Iconic includes keyless entry, builtin navigation (EasyLink system with Google search and live fuel prices) and the option of two-tone paint at no additional cost, while S-Edition also includes a parking camera, Multi-Sense system, cornering lights, partleather seats, auto-dimming mirror, auto highbeam, electrically-folding door mirrors, and many more comfort, convenience and safety features as standard. Engine & Transmission Options; Engine options consist of a 1.3-litre petrol unit (TCe) with a choice of 100, 130 or 155bhp, while a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine (dCi) with either 95 or 115bhp is also available, with all engines complying with strict Euro6 emission standards. Joining the range shortly is an E-TECH Rechargable Hybrid, which will make the all-new Captur a tempting proposition to an even wider audience. A five-speed manual gearbox is reserved for the TCe100 and dCi95 models, while a six-speed manual is available in higher powered variants. A slick sevenspeed dual-clutch automatic is available with the TCe 130, TCe155, and dCi115 engines. Test Car; My test car was a new Captur in top spec S-Edition trim, and was finished in stunning two-tone Desert Orange and Midnight Black metallic paint for maximum visual impact, while an optional ‘Signature Orange’

interior colour pack provided a dash of expressive flair in the cabin. Producing 130bhp, and a healthy 240Nm of torque, the 1.3-litre TCe 130 engine enables the 0-100km/h sprint to be completed in just 9.6-seconds. With this engine capable of consuming as little as 5.2-litres of petrol for every 100km driven (combined driving cycle), the car’s standard 45-litre fuel tank will allow up to 865km’s between fills. The dual-clutch 7-speed automatic transmission in my test car allowed for smooth take off and acceleration, and proved itself to be simple to use. My test car performed admirably on a variety of motorway and rural roads, with sharp steering responses ensuring that bends can be negotiated with ease, while the car remained comfortable and composed when faced with imperfrct road surfaces. Annual road tax across the entire new Renault Captur range is between €190 and €270, with my test car falling in to the latter bracket. Pricing & Verdict; The All-New Renault Captur will delight new and existing Captur owners alike, as it possesses all of the hallmarks of an SUV, and leaves a strong first impression. Pricing for the new Captur starts from just €21,995 (ex-works), with all Renault passenger cars attracting a 5-Year/200,000km warranty as standard. For the initial ‘202 registration period (and for a limited time), Renault are offering a super-low finance rate of just 2.02% APR, on top of €1,000 cashback, and no payments for the first 3 months.
