COMPANIES OF ALL SIZES CHOOSE METRO ATLANTA
It’s no secret that Georgia has been recognized for its exceptional business-friendly environment. In fact, Site Selection has named it the number one state for doing business for eight consecutive years. That kind of reputation undoubtedly attracts companies of all sizes to settle in the area every year, establishing headquarters, distribution centers, customer service operations and more. And many of those organizations have found a home right here in metro Atlanta. Here are some of the most recent big business moves to our fair city and its surrounding areas.
PepsiCo Beverages North America
PepsiCo Beverages North America (PBNA), a division of PepsiCo, is planning to expand its manufacturing facility in the City of Tucker. The expansion will encompass a $260 million investment resulting in an additional 260,000 square feet of space and the creation of at least 136 full-time jobs. The expanded facility will be able to increase the plant’s production five-fold by 2025, making it one of the largest manufacturing facilities within the company. What’s more, the overall investment will increase the company’s workforce in DeKalb County to more than 600 jobs.
Ryder System, Inc.
Ryder System, Inc., a leader in supply chain, dedicated transportation and commercial fleet management solutions, recently announced that it will invest in a new $44 million distribution center in Locust Grove. The high-tech, third-party, 678,000-square-foot facility will allow for the creation of more than 250 jobs and give the company direct access to I-75, as well as other key logistics access points in the state. The building will be used to accelerate growth for the company’s e-commerce and multi-customer warehouse offerings. Positions will be available for warehouse pickers/packers and shippers, forklift operators and management and supervisory professionals.
Carvana
The industry pioneer for buying and selling cars online, Carvana, has been recognized for its continued expansion within the State of Georgia. To date, the company employs 1,500 people and plans to create up to 3,500 additional jobs over the next several years. Carvana recently expanded its campus in DeKalb County and continues to hire for positions in engineering, customer care, product and more. By locating its Customer Experience Center headquarters in Dunwoody, the Fortune 500 company is taking advantage of the metro Atlanta area’s large, skilled and diverse workforce.
Moderna, Inc.
Biotechnology company Moderna, Inc., recently established a new enterprise solutions hub in Atlanta, which will create 150 jobs over the next two years. Initially, the location will hire for positions in finance, human resources, procurement and digital solutions, and additional opportunities, functions and business services will be added as the hub grows. Operations for the new offices launched in the second quarter of 2022. The company, which has pioneered mRNA therapeutics and vaccines, selected Atlanta because of its thriving life sciences industry sector and strong workforce.
Trenton Systems
Trenton Systems, a Georgia-based high-performance computer manufacturer, has opened a new headquarters in Duluth, located in Gwinnett County. The company, which manufacturers, assembles, tests and supports secure computing solutions, will add more than 50 new jobs to the area with the facility; positions available will range from marketing and sales jobs to roles in engineering, quality and production. The new office will not only house Trenton Systems’ headquarters, but also many of its business support teams. The company also operates a facility in Lawrenceville, which is being used as a manufacturing and production house for current and future projects. n
