2023 State Summer Special Olympic Games Tennis Volunteers Needed!

Come out to Emory University on May 19-21 and enjoy the 2023 State Summer Special Olympic Games! More than 2,000 athletes, unified partners, and coaches from across the state of Georgia will come to Emory University’s beautiful campus to compete in Athletics, Cheerleading, Flag Football, Gymnastics, Soccer, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball! Projected athlete participation for these games has now exceeded pre-Covid numbers.

Since 2003, the ALTA Foundation has been a proud partner of the State Summer Special Olympic Games and the sponsor of the Tennis Venue. In addition to financial support, ALTA members, their families, and friends volunteer during the three-day event as umpires, scorekeepers, ball persons, unified partners, and fill various other roles. More than 1,600 volunteer hours have been donated by our membership in the past working side-by-side and cheering on these special athletes during their tennis matches.

Approximately 175 3-4 hours volunteer slots will need to be filled to help execute the Tennis Games at Emory University this year. No experience, except for general tennis knowledge, a strong desire to give back, and a smile, are necessary to volunteer. We welcome all volunteers over the age of 8 — with parental accompaniment for those under the age of 12. Training is provided where needed. This is a perfect opportunity for those looking to complete a few more community service hours before summer begins!
