Slinger Welcomes Canadian Tennis Star Genie Bouchard as its Newest Brand Ambassador
Slinger Bag welcomes Eugenie Bouchard to its brand ambassador program, where she joins Tommy Haas, Mike and Bob Bryan, Nick Bollettieri, Patrick Mouratoglou, and Darren Cahill. Bouchard was the first Canadian-born player to reach the final of a Grand Slam in singles at the 2014 Wimbledon Championships and was also the first Canadian tennis player to be ranked in the top 5 in singles.
Slinger’s ambassadors represent a diverse mix of players, retired stars, coaches, and legends from the sport who all share Slinger’s passion for growing the sport and mission to get more people playing tennis more often. Bouchard, who is currently recovering from recent shoulder surgery, earned her eighth career WTA finals appearance this year. “I am thrilled to be joining Slinger and the other tennis stars and legends involved in this amazing new company,” she said. “I love hitting with my Slinger, a playing partner, or coach. I’m going to be using my Slinger Bag a lot during my rehab over the next few months, and once I am back playing competitively again.”
“We’re excited to welcome Genie to our growing ambassador team of legends and dynamic personalities from the sport of tennis,” said Slinger Chief Executive Mike Ballardie. “We look forward to seeing her back on the court soon, but in the meantime, her love of our brand and the amazing connection she has with millions of tennis fans all over the world will help us to reach more people with the Slinger Bag, our brand, and future offerings.”

FILA Signs Sponsorship Agreement with Young American Phenom Robin Montgomery
FILA announced the signing of 16-yearold professional tennis player Robin Montgomery, one of the most promising up-and-coming American players. Montgomery has worn the FILA brand on-court since 2015, but she now has officially joined the company’s elite roster of sponsored WTA and ATP Tour players.
Montgomery grabbed the attention of the tennis world with a breakout 2019 season that saw her reach the final at the Easter Bowl in March, help lead the United States to a junior Fed Cup title in September, and cap off the year by winning the title at the Junior Orange Bowl Championship (18s Division). She carried her momentum into the 2020 season, where she reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open Junior Championships, catapulting her to a career-high world ranking of No. 5 on the ITF junior circuit, and the No.1-ranked American junior.
Montgomery made her professional Grand Slam debut as a wild card at the 2020 US Open at just 15 years old, the youngest player in either the men’s or women’s field. She capped off the year on a high note with her first ITF doubles title in October at Reims, France. “FILA has already shown tremendous faith in me early in my tennis career, and I am honored to officially join their roster of sponsored professional players,” Montgomery said. “FILA is iconic in the sport of tennis, with so many inspiring players past and present who have represented the brand. I am looking forward to making a positive impact together both on and off the court.”
“Robin has an incredibly bright future ahead and we are proud to welcome her to the FILA family during this exciting time in her career,” said Gene Yoon, global chairman at FILA. “As one of the game’s rising stars, we believe she has all of the tools to become a great champion both on and off the court.”

Charleston Tennis LLC Announces New Title Sponsor of WTA 500 Tournament & Stadium
Charleston Tennis, LLC has unveiled Credit One Bank as the new title sponsor of the WTA 500 tennis tournament hosted in Charleston, South Carolina as well as the state-of-the-art stadium at the LTP Daniel Island tennis center. The tournament, formerly known as the Volvo Car Open, is the largest women’s-only tennis tournament in North America and will celebrate its 50th year April 2-10, 2022 at the newly renovated and modernized Credit One Stadium. A new event name will be revealed at a later date.
“The future of live tennis is a bright spot for us, building and planning for what the future will look like for the new Credit One Stadium. After nearly 18 months of navigating postponements and cancellations, we look forward to bringing worldclass tennis back to Charleston each April and broadening our reach to bigger and better concerts and special events throughout the year,” said Bob Moran, president of Charleston Tennis.
“We’re proud to be working with Charleston Tennis, LLC, and the City of Charleston to build on the great history of this tournament and give the passionate fan base in the area and women’s tennis players from around the world a great experience at a state-of-the-art venue,” said John Coombe, senior vice president of marketing at Credit One.
Volvo Cars USA will continue to support tennis as the official vehicle of the WTA 500 event. The luxury automobile maker has been a valued partner of the tennis tournament and stadium since investing in the Charleston area with its production facility. As part of its commitment to the community, the company devoted six years to the WTA 500 tennis tournament and venue on Daniel Island, serving as the title sponsor from 2016 to 2021.
Charleston Tennis, LLC, which manages the stadium under a lease from the City of Charleston, is currently renovating and modernizing the 20-year-old facility. The city-owned venue is undergoing upgrades to enhance the stadium experience for patrons, performers, tennis players and event management, allowing the venue to attract world-class athletes and talent to Daniel Island.
Credit One Stadium will expand from 7,500 seats to 11,000 seats and feature 16 fully air-conditioned permanent suites, all-new concessions, more bathrooms, and a 75,000-square-foot Stage House with a partial roof. The Stage House will transform the stadium experience for tennis players, entertainers, media and special guests, offering locker rooms, a gym, training facilities, production and media space, catering amenities, and a VIP rooftop restaurant and outdoor bar. The roof of the Stage House will also provide partial shade for attendees at the tennis tournament and act as a support structure for concerts and special events.
