For more than 70 years, Rocco’s Town House has been welcoming residents of Hammonton and beyond to gather, eat, drink and discuss the important issues of the day.

Originally opened as The Town House in 1949, the tavern continues its tradition of offering a welcoming spot for locals to gather where, like the theme song from “Cheers,” everybody knows your name, and they’re always glad you came.

“Rocco’s is the place where everyone meets,” says proprietor Steve Ruberton, who runs the restaurant with his brother Dave. “We purchased The Town House in 1983 with our father with the intention of opening a local restaurant that makes patrons feel please see BITES, page 7

The business has grown and evolved with the times. In addition to offering seasonal menu

selections featuring locally grown ingredients, the brothers work closely with local breweries and wineries to help support the Hammonton community. Rocco’s Town House offers a leading selection of craft beers, with at least 15 New Jersey drafts on tap from local breweries, including Three 3’s Brewing Company, Tomfoolery Brewery and Vinyl Brewing. Local wines are also available from DiMatteo Winery, Plagido’s Winery, Sharrott Winery, Tomasello Winery, White Horse Winery and Valenzano Winery.

In the fall of 2017, the brothers opened the Rock Bottom Whiskey Bar in the lower level of the restaurant, providing a relaxed atmosphere with comfy couches, a shuffleboard table, board games and live music on the weekends. The bar offers an extensive selection of whiskeys and bourbon, along with a variety of handcrafted specialty cocktails. “We’ve created a speakeasy environment where the craft beer flows and the whiskey is plentiful,” says Steve.

“We’re always offering drink specials and unique concoctions that separate us from the norm.” In addition, Rocco’s offers a variety of best-selling specialties that keep people coming back for more.
