In a recent announcement, historian Scott Tucker says he is working on a critical analysis of accepted primary school, middle school and highschool curriculum that rejects the one-sided historical perspective on the presidents most beloved by students. According to Tucker, presidents like Abraham Lincoln and George Washington are not as universally adored as state run public education systems would have students believe.
Scott Tucker commented on the recent announcement, "These historical figures become American myths in the minds of children, thanks to the one-sided treatment they receive in public schools. Historical accuracy is perverted for the purpose of propaganda."
Tucker says that while professional historians know the truth about these presidents, many American adults live there whole lives believing the propagandist myths they were taught throughout their twelve years in American public schools. Scott Tucker insists that the opinions held by historians about these important men in American history cover the entire range of opinion. For instance, while many American students might rank Lincoln as one of the greatest presidents in American history, Tucker says that many historians believe he was actually one of the very worst presidents American has ever had.
According to the announcement by Scott Tucker, his new analysis and his suggestions for improving history and social studies curriculum will be available early next year.
