Lifestyle blog Home And Recreation reports the details of the artist's move. (Newswire.net -- December 5, 2013) Denver, Colorado --
The arts community in Yonkers, NY is growing and sculptor, painter and photographer is it's newest member according to a recent post by Home And Recreation.
Scott Tucker and his partner Tracey Brooke formerly operated their art and design company out of a studio in Brooklyn, but the artists needs have outgrown the limited space available in his Brooklyn studio over the past year. Recently, Tucker decided to base his company ISC in a historic Yonkers building that gives him and Brooke 4,000 square feet of space to work in. The former Alexander Smith carpet mill is now a permanent art gallery and a production workshop for Tucker's custom line of furniture. Scott Tucker
In addition to operating a business out of the new space, Tucker plans to host art exhibits and educational events in an area of the studio separate from the production floor.
According to the recent post in Home and Recreation, the former carpet mill building has been owned by the Heights Real Estate Co. since 2005. Reportedly, the real estate company has spent nearly 1 million dollar renovating the space and adding 50 lofts. The company hopes to attract more tenants like Scott Tucker and encourage a post-industrial renaissance on par with the art community growth experienced by other New York neighborhoods like Chelsea.
Home and Recreation reports that Scott Tucker spoke about missing Brooklyn during the new studio's ribbon cutting ceremony, but also expressed optimism about the opportunities available in Yonkers. Tucker and Brooke not only want to take advantage of the production space that is three times larger than their former studio, they are attracted to the possibility of helping to grow the arts culture in Yonkers and Westchester.
