Teachers’ Raves for
Pop’s Cookie Duster!
“An irresistible tale of fun in the kitchen. A winning recipe for readers of all ages.” —Anita P. Coll, Head of Holy Child Academy, Drexel Hill, PA “An endearing story of kitchen capers and the unique and special relationship between a grandfather and his grandchildren.” —Allison Haze, Special Education Teacher and Reading Specialist, William Penn School District “POP’S COOKIE DUSTER is a great story for all ages. Everyone has that special person in their life, be it a grandparent, aunt, uncle, or special friend. I am very much looking forward to sharing this wonderful story with family and my students!” —Krista Cesarine, Kindergarten Teacher
“POP’S COOKIE DUSTER is what the world needs right now! It’s nice to be reminded that the most important things in life are really the most simple and fundamental. This heartwarming story reminded me of my childhood, and of simple traditions that I would like to share and keep alive with my family, and with my students in elementary school. So, have the kids put down the iPads and video games, and invite them to share an experience they won’t forget. —D. McVeigh, Elementary Teacher “This warm and fuzzy tale shows how cherished a relationship can be between grandparents and grandchildren who are separated by miles but not by love.” —Judy Hedtke, Librarian, Notre Dame de Lourdes School, and Member of the Philadelphia Archdiocesan Library Curriculum Committee “A lovely and charming book! Our 4-year-old granddaughter was delighted by the story and illustrations and also by the fact that her Pop has a cookie duster, too. Of course, we all had to bake the cookies right away. Delicious!” —Donna Warshaw, Educational Consultant (and doting Grandma) “Pop” (author Don Doyle) reads Pop’s Cookie Duster to a group of fellow cookie fans.

To our grandchildren and future grandchildren
My name is Daisy and I am 6 years old. My sister’s name is Juliana. She is 4 years old.
5
Daddy has a surprise for us! Pop is coming to visit! Pop is Daddy’s Daddy. 6
Some people call him Granddad, or Popi, or Pop Pop. We call him Pop. He has to take an airplane to visit us. 7
He brings our grandmother, too. We call her Mom Mom. We could call her Gran, or Nonna, or Nana, but she likes Mom Mom the best. 8
Mom Mom likes to help us put puzzles together. When I was little, the puzzles had big pieces. Now that I am 6, the puzzles have small pieces. 9
We like to play Bingo with Mom Mom. She lets us use candy for markers.
10
We get to eat the candy when we finish playing.
11
Ophelia the cat likes to lie in the sun on our bedroom floor.
12
We wish Mom Mom and Pop lived closer to us so we could play with them every day.
13
The last time they visited, Daddy said to Pop, “I see you brought your Cookie Duster.” “I never go anywhere without it,” laughed Pop. “What’s a Cookie Duster?” I asked. 14
The fun “Maybe you’ll find out later,” said Pop. continues in...
Pop’s Cookie Duster!
Daddy and Pop are funny. They should be clowns. They like to play tricks on us and tell jokes. We laugh a lot when Pop is here with Daddy. 15
