Welcome
Welcome to 2011 – the New Year brings a parcel of new partnerships – a writers’ hub with New Writing South and Portsmouth City Council, a community circus troupe – Top Banana – with Dot to Dot and the introduction of four associate artists/companies of which two bring their work this season – the daring and wildly innovative Kompany Malakhi and the enchanting children’s company, Kipper Tie. Shakespeare’s Globe is back with the premiere of their touring production of As You Like It in Portsmouth City Museum Gardens once more. They come to us earlier this year – May 12–15 so bookmark your diaries now to avoid disappointment. Picture: The News; Portsmouth

Living Memories (2) follows the storming success of last year’s Living Memories event. This time in partnership with Portsmouth Football Club we focus on their FA Cup victory in 1939 and explore the stories of the players and the city over the following 6 years. Share your stories and images with us as we add them to our Living Memories Wall. I am thrilled that the one and only Courtney Pine is coming to New Theatre Royal, the man who has transformed British jazz over the last 10 years, that Marise Van Stockert is bringing a new show by Tilted Productions – I was blown away by her last one – that we have an unrivalled line up of stand ups including Sarah Millican and Shappi Khorsandi and that we welcome the inimitable Roger McGough. A feast for all I hope – Caroline
