OUR BLUE HEAVEN WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY PETER ROWE
The 6th of May 2018 will mark 40 years since Ipswich Town’s historic FA Cup victory - a moment when Ipswich united to celebrate success as the underdog became victorious. Join us to celebrate with a milestone musical production! With a hasty wedding, a first birth and missing tickets to contend with, will our mad-keen Ipswich fans make it to the Final? Can the Town navigate the frozen pitch at Bristol Rovers, the rioting Millwall supporters at the Den, dodgy refereeing at Villa Park and make it all the way to Wembley? Created from the heartwarming memories of super blues fans themselves, with a live soundtrack of chart hits from ‘78, join Bobby and his Blue Army on this nostalgic trip down Wembley Way. This production has been created thanks to support from: East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Star, who inspired the title Our Blue Heaven from their newspaper front cover on Monday 8 May 1978; BBC Radio Suffolk; Ipswich Town Supporter’s Club; Ipswich Town Football Club; DanceEast, and to the kind donations gathered from our Indiegogo campaign in Autumn 2017.

OUR COUNTRY’S GOOD BY TIMBERLAKE WERTENBAKER BASED ON THE PLAYMAKER BY THOMAS KENEALLY
In 1787, ships each with over 700 convicts on board set sail on an eight month voyage. When they arrive in Australia, their survival is by no means certain: supplies are running out, the convicts are stealing food or trying to escape and the guards are threatening mutiny. Our Country’s Good tells the extraordinary true story of a group of convicts and a young officer who rehearse and perform a play – Australia’s first theatrical production. With opposition from the officers and a leading lady who may be hanged, the odds are stacked against them. Our Country’s Good is a touring production made in co-production with Ramps on the Moon, whose previous collaborations over the last two years include the comedy hit The Government Inspector and a critically acclaimed version of The Who’s Tommy. THE MUSICAL BIRTH OF A TEENAGE REVOLUTION
TEDDY BY TRISTAN BERNAYS / MUSIC BY DOUGAL IRVINE / DIRECTED BY ELEANOR RHODE
An award-winning, punchy new musical that races through the dark and damaged world of post-war London: a brand new Britain bombed to bits by the Blitz, belts tight with austerity, but ripe and ready for revolution. Elephant and Castle, London. 1956. Saturday night. Teddy and Josie are about to hit the streets of London for a good time. Hair quiffed. Red lipstick. Dressed toe to head in the latest threads. So what if it’s pouring down, they’re totally skint, and someone wants them dead? A little trouble never stopped a Ted from having a good time. Desperate times call for rock ‘n’ roll! Bursting with the energy of a live gig.

Anxious, seductive and fiercely clever, Blanche is just about keeping it together. But her arrival threatens his entire way of life. Uncurling every bicep to look under every rock at every ugly truth, this talk will take us deep into the troubled tensions of Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski. WOYZECK
2011
BY GEORGE BÜCHNER’S / ADAPTED BY DANIEL KRAMER / DIRECTED BY ROB SALMON
Woyzeck is the heartbreaking story of a young soldier’s descent into madness. Inspired by real events, Büchner’s unfinished masterpiece remains one of western drama’s most profound and moving explorations of class and morality. Written shortly before his death at the age of twenty three, Georg Büchner’s Woyzeck is often described as the first ‘modern’ play. Woyzeck tells the story of a poor soldier manipulatedand abused by his superiors, turned into a specimen for cruel experiementation at the hands of the medical establishment, and finally betrayed by the woman he loves, with devastating consequences. GEIN’S FAMILY GIFTSHOP: VOL III
" This is a chef’s special, a deliciously funny and occasionally dramatically-daring concoction of a play.” British Theatre Guide
Like persistent dandruff; Kath Hughes, Edward Easton, James Meehan and Kiri PritchardMclean (the silent member in name only) are coming to Ipswich, and they are itching to show you what they’ve come up with. They took time off from the fringe in 2016 and embarked upon a successful UK tour, Jim and Kiri have broken up with each other after 8 years, the quartet recorded a second series for Radio Wales, Ed’s moved back into his dead mum’s house, they’ve been threatened to be sued for libel and battled with mental health problems. But we’re pretty sure none of that will come up in the show.

THU 1 MARCH A NEW WOLSEY THEATRE PRODUCTION
POLL FUNCTION
Many influential theatre makers and writers have identified as LGBT, and many important milestones in gay liberation first found their feet on a stage. Then & Now is an evening of rehearsed readings from some of British theatre’s finest gay voices from both past and present, as well as the chance to see some new short plays written especially for the night. Come along to the New Wolsey Studio for this one off event celebrating LGBT History Month for a glimpse into life of the LGBT community then and now.
Two old school friends return to suburbia to wreak havoc on childhood dreams and a system they believed would bring them future opportunity. Confined within a car for most of the journey, old secrets are aired out and open questions are asked about who they have become since leaving the suburbs. Speeding through girls, grades and badgers, they fight, spit, cry and kill but still find it hard to accept their feelings are only human. Blending unfaltering dialogue and physical expression with a booming backseat soundscape, Poll Function is a hilarious and empathic exploration of youthful hedonism and social responsibility in 2018.

When I think back, it’s all so vivid. And it’s all completely made up. Join me, Eamonn Fleming, writer, performer and ‘O’ level Biologist (Grade C), as I stumble through the amazing worlds of Memory Palaces, False Memories and Werther’s Originals. BASED ON A TRUE STORY: PART 1 It’s Billy’s first day at a new school, and he’s really excited, but… he’s really nervous too. You see, Billy isn’t an ordinary boy. He has pointy ears, a turned-up nose, and a big green head... did we mention that he’s from another planet. Well he is, and he’s looking for new friends, but no-one at his new school wants to play with someone who looks and sounds so strange. This is a story about feeling different and finding your place in a new world… and the universe!? SAT

AUDIO DESCRIBED PERFORMANCES Audio Description captures the visual elements of a performance that a blind or partially sighted person might otherwise miss and describes them in clear, vivid language through a pair of headphones Free touch tours take place an hour before the performance.
BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETED BSL interpreted performances feature a professional interpreter that translates spoken English into British Sign Language.
CAPTIONED PERFORMANCES Theatre captions are similar to television subtitles and give deaf, deafened or hard of hearing audiences access to live performance.
WHEELCHAIR USER ACCESS There are 6 wheelchair user accessible spaces in the New Wolsey Auditorium, 4 in row C and 2 in row K (see page 20). The studio auditorium has 2 wheelchair user accessible spaces with a small passenger lift to the auditorium. The HEG is wheelchair user accessible also.

RELAXED PERFORMANCES Relaxed performances are carefully adjusted to deliver a more informal relaxed approach to theatre. For example, changes are made to sound and lighting to eliminate surprises and soften the impact. We have experienced their suitability for audiences with learning, physical or sensory disabilities and people living with mental health conditions, Dementia and their families. Our Bradbury Platform can be installed; increasing our wheelchair user accessible spaces up to 12!
DEMENTIA FRIENDLY All staff members are Dementia Friends and we are working towards being a Dementia Friendly Venue. Dementia Friendly performances include a reminiscence and familiarisation talk/tour with supporting visual aids. Relaxed Performances may also be suitable for people living with Dementia.
