WELCOME TO NY PRESCHOOL Founded in 2001, NY Preschool is an independent day school dedicated to educating children aged 18 months to four years old. We are committed to providing enrichment with equilibrium - incorporating stories, songs and art to facilitate engaging early-learning experiences that create a sense of awe and wonder. This, we believe, is how children establish life-long curiosity and thirst for inquiry. Our vibrant teaching team adds a theatrical element to our unique lessons, which brings them to life for our students. Though our programs evolve to complement the world outside of the classroom, they are always focused on developing literacy, efficacy and excellent communication skills - qualities which are all critical for success. In addition to learning core subjects from our esteemed classroom teachers, NY Preschool students participate in courses led by subject matter experts in language, dance, gymnastics, chess, science, Spanish, sign language and music. Our pristine classrooms combined with our state-of-the-art gym facilities delight growing minds and bodies. WHY NY PRESCHOOL To fulfill our mission of enriching the development of children, NY Preschool hosts a curriculum that incorporates STEAM lessons which include stories, songs and art. This approach begets a developmentally appropriate, academically rigorous foundation that prepares your child for social and emotional success in future schooling. Our environment pairs a warm, nurturing classroom with purposeful play in our state-of-the-art gymnastics facility to offer a unique and progressive learning environment that sparks each student’s intellectual, physical and social growth. When it comes to selecting our early childhood educators, we recruit nationally for instructors who bring something extra special to the classroom. NY Preschool teachers are dynamic graduates and specialists who exude a passion for teaching and come from unique professional backgrounds ranging from early childhood education, STEAM and gymnastics to dance, theater, art and music. Accreditations & Affiliations NY Preschool has been been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and all of our schools are licensed by the New York State Department of Health. Our curriculum fully aligns with the NY State Early Learning Guidelines and 21st century learning standards. It incorporates both STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) and project-based learning along with makerspaces to prepare our students for life-long success.
Outcomes It is our core philosophy that when each component of your child’s success is carefully considered within a broader learning community, long-term success results. Students who graduate from our preschool program have gone on to attend some of New York’s most prestigious public and private schools, including: Avenues, Berkeley Carroll School, Calhoun, Collegiate, Dalton, Dwight, Heschel, Mandel, Park East Day School, PS 176, PS 199, Spence, Trinity, among others. 7
PRESCHOOL PREP 18-23 MONTHS Our interactive Preschool Prep curriculum is a weekly adult participation program designed to nourish the cognitive and social development of children aged 18-23 months. Our program stimulates curiosity and an appreciation for art, music, language, math and science, and also incorporates gymnastics lessons taught in our state-of-the-art gym facility. These enriching school experiences help develop confident, joyful learners. Well-rounded instruction gives students the tools for intellectual development and selfexpression. At this exciting and promising stage, children are introduced to sign language and letter awareness to lay a solid foundation for early literacy and communication skills. Independent exploration of age-appropriate books, gathering to hear stories read aloud, and a healthy dose of music, movement and theater stimulates the hearts and minds of our Preschool Prep students. Our students gain a more profound understanding of the world around them as they are introduced to basic math and early reasoning skills through our math and science curricula. Instructors in our Preschool Prep program focus on helping each individual to grow, working with both adults and their children to create lessons that allow each child to experience the thrill of a challenge, and the blissful joy of success. 2s, 3s, & 4s The NY Preschool curricula for children aged 2, 3 and 4 years is designed to nourish all aspects of development as children move through their preschool years. Core teachers anchor the NY Preschool program, joyfully integrating the arts into every aspect of learning in the form of music, movement and theater. Our classes stimulate a curiosity and appreciation for art, music, language, math and science, and also incorporate physical enrichment time in our state-of-the-art gymnastics facility. Our specialists, who bring their expertise in areas such as Spanish, chess and gymnastics, enhance our program further by introducing age-appropriate lessons that spark curiosity in remarkable ways. NY Preschool instructors embrace the philosophy that each child’s unique learning style should be celebrated, and use the principles of differentiated learning to individualize lessons for each of our students. Learning activities incorporate both support and challenge elements, allowing students to feel the pride of accomplishment while also enabling them to experience going beyond their comfort zones. Our innovative curriculum reaches all corners of a child’s nascent potential. To promote language and literacy development, teachers incorporate repetition into activities in order to help students reach higher levels of letter recognition, phonemic awareness, expressive and receptive language, oral language comprehension and concepts of print. Exposure to age-appropriate math theories and principles reinforces creative problem-solving skills, increases proficiency in numeration, ordering and measurement, and most importantly, develops a positive association with mathematics at the youngest possible age. Interactive science and social studies lessons model and reinforce creative problem-solving skills and bring an increased awareness of the incredible world around us. Students also benefit from attending specialty classes each week with professional instructors in a variety of disciplines, including dance, sports, gymnastics, music and yoga. Elements of the arts are woven into every subject - a teaching strategy that improves memory retention, ignites creativity and develops a positive image of self and of those around us. BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL Select NY Preschool locations offer the opportunity for participation in afterschool programming one to five days per week from 12:30-3:30 p.m. or from 2:45-5:45 p.m. Our after-school activities provide unique opportunities to form healthy intellectual and physical habits in a dynamic social setting. A few of our many offerings include gymnastics, dance, sports, martial arts and STEAM programs. These activities are designed to stimulate the natural curiosity of a young mind and nurture healthy physical growth to ensure long-term success. With enrichment under the guidance of caring instructors, children reach their social, intellectual and creative potential through rich and meaningful exploration.

ADMISSIONS Admission to NY Preschool is offered on a rolling, ongoing basis. We embrace a streamlined process that allows families to complete enrollment immediately once they have chosen NY Preschool. Registration begins in September for the following school year. While our rolling admissions policy provides flexibility, families should register as early as possible as seats begin to fill immediately. The majority of our programs require registration for the full academic year, though some options may be available for the September-January or January-June semesters. Summer sessions for our Preschool Prep and 2s programs are also available, with registration opening in January.
