16 NYPL Roar!
Resources for Teachers NYPL offers a variety of programs and resources for educators and students of all ages, including school visits, research workshops, and exhibition tours. To find out how to bring your students to the library or arrange for the library to come to your school, contact a specific neighborhood library and ask to speak to the library manager. Class visits must be scheduled in advance.
Research Libraries NYPL’s four research libraries offer more specialized opportunities for teachers and students. The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, in particular, offers a regular schedule of daytime programs for school groups and Saturday classes for middle and high school students, plus events for educators. For more information, visit schomburgcenter.org/calendar or contact schomburged@nypl.org.

School Book Talks Let NYPL’s experts in children’s literature engage students with presentations of timely and age-appropriate books.
Educator Cards NYPL offers special library cards for teachers with extended borrowing privileges. The card allows educators to check out up to 100 items at once, place 50 holds, keep items for 60 days, and best of all, incur no library fines! Apply at your local library.
Using assorted drums, cymbals, tambourines, marimbas, and the body percussion rhythms of shout, juba, and jive, percussionist David Pleasant illustrates how these forms of communication helped forge a language of resistance against slavery. For grades 4 and up. Registration required; contact schomburged@nypl.org or 212.491.2234.

As a Friend, you will enjoy special benefits, including exhibition previews and discounts on LIVE from the NYPL tickets and at our Library Shop. To join, visit nypl.org/support or call 212.930.0653.
