The Bivalent Booster, aka the Omicron Booster, is designed to protect people against the original strain of Covid and the current dominant strain* Since the beginning of October, 10% of all Covid tests in the United States have come back positive. Some variations allow the virus to spread more easily. Everyone over the age of 5 is eligible to get the booster. It does not matter which brand you have gotten before, only that you have been fully vaccinated and have not had Covid in the last 90 days. You are eligible to get a bivalent booster shot two months after you have been fully vaccinated or after your last booster shot.
Covid boosters can help strengthen protection that may have decreased over time.

We know that people from racial and ethnic minority groups are dying from Covid at younger ages. People in minority groups are often younger when they develop chronic medical conditions and may be more likely to have more than one medical condition which makes them more at risk for Covid and serious outcomes like severe illness or death.
