Consulting Project: 2022 Community Choice

PROJECT PROPOSAL PROJECT TITLE: 2022 COMMUNITY CHOICE Format/Medium: Variable DESCRIPTION NEXT Harm Reduction is an online and mail-based harm reduction program. As part of our work, we are consolidating PWUD health resources that reflect the diversity PWUD needs across the country. NEXT is seeking project proposals from harm reduction programs, mutual aid groups, people with lived experience, and other individuals/groups adjacent to harm reduction work.

PRODUCT ● Creation of a pamphlet, info guide, image(s), or other written/visual/video project with a focus on supporting people who use drugs through a harm reduction lens, encompassing a subject matter not yet identified for this overall content creation project ○ Drugs/drug use do not need to be the main focus: topic can be harm reduction adjacent ● Some individual project ideas/formats could include but are not limited to: Translation of a pre-existing harm reduction resource into a language other than English or Spanish ● Updating an outdated pamphlet/resource ● Expanding a pre-existing resource ● Creation of a new visual comic, zine, pamphlet, or video In order for this project to be successful, the product will utilize language and/or imagery, explanations, and descriptions that are personally relatable and accessible to our participants who largely do not come from an academic background. Our general standard is that materials should be accessible to a 5th grade reading level.

OTHER DETAILS ● Artist(s)/Author(s)/Organization(s) will retain ownership of work product, it is not necessary for NEXT to be credited ● Product will be created with understanding that it is ‘open access’ on the NEXT website, available to download and share ● NEXT will prioritize proposals from new and emerging harm reduction leaders and BIPOC ● Project build-out will be supported by the NEXT team, TBD and as requested ● For English language written materials- NEXT requests a document of text for the purpose of Spanish translation; Our team will provide translation -- two final products in English and Spanish will be produced ● Artist(s)/Author(s)/Organization(s) will be supported by can work with NEXT’s graphic designers at no cost to them, applicants need not have graphic design skills ● Honorarium range from $100-$600 USD depending on project scope. ● Estimated honorariums available: Between 2-6 TO APPLY Email concept note/project proposal with estimated timeline to content@nextdistro.org.
