nonprofit organization “Nezevli jen tak” We are a group of young people seeking to improve public spaces by small interventions made in collaboration with local residents. We organize workshops for students of architecture to help the villages and small towns. We give students a chance to respond to the real problems, applying their approach and self-realization. We offer an opportunity for citizens to participate in decisions about what is happening in their surroundings, insight into the design process and active participation during the implementation. We perceive a process of designing as a collaboration between professionals (architects, students) and users (locals). Success of final design depends on the quality of communication between them. Do not hesitate to meet, let’s discuss!

What we do?

Current situation at czech schools of architecture:

Architecture student attends university for about six years. Every semester he chooses his theme of project and he designs an an ideological project under the supervision of professors. At the end of the semester he presents his design to teachers and his classmates and he gets an evaluation for it. Do not you miss something here? He doesn´t leave the school building, he doesn´t try to work with real materials or defend the project before non-architects. After the experience on architecture school abroad where the teaching was more practical, we decided to try to make a change.

Our philosophy:

We give architecture students the opportunity to meet “real world”. We make this in beneficial cooperation with smaller municipalities. In the Czech Republic more than 70% of the population live in smaller cities or villages, but there is no attention and minimal resources given to their public spaces. Therefore we debate about local issues in their community and we improve these issues by small interventions - using the minimum amount of money, recycled materials and original designs. The benefits are on both sides: the municipalities gain oriinal urban designs for minimal money while strengthening community life, students of architecture approximate the real world outside of university.

WORKSHOP SRBSKO september 2013 Our first workshop was implemented even before the oficial establishment of the organization in the village of Srbsko. The inspiration comes from the studies at architecture school in France, where we saw that it can do differently. During few days groups of architecture students created 5 projects from wooden pallets for the public space of village. Work was accompaned by ectures, children’s program and a concert. The project was supported by the Vodafone Foundation.

NEZEVLI JEN TAK, UDĚLEJ ZEVLÍTKO! december 2013 - juin 2014 The second workshop took place in the city center of Beroun. During one weekend, we created six “gaze-chairs” for the bike path along the river. Those designs was choosen from teh 14 proposals by the public voting. The event contained a rich cultural program. Part of the project was the promotion of public space using in local pimary schools. The project was supported by cultural dotation by city of Beroun.

WORKSHOP KONĚPRUSY september 2014 In Koneprusy we worked with the same concept like teh first workshop - recovery of public space of a czech village. Ones more we invited architecture students to come for 5 days and create the designs for public space. Due to collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture of CTU in Prague we organized the meeting with locals - before the workshop held two planning meetings. We increased the collaboration with municipality, Koneprusy provided us an accommodation and meals for students and building material. PSB supported the event through the VIA Foundation.

WORKSHOP NIŽBOR march - may 2015 In Nizbor we met with students of architecture, and local experts, we work together to revive the meadow next to teh river - enough for us to local wicker, wooden pallets and plastic bottles collected. The workshop was divided into two parts - the designing phase and the implementation phase. The project was supported by the Vodafone Foundation. WORKSHOP NEZEVLI JEN TAK VOL.4

SVATÝ JAN POD SKALOU “SANT JOHN UNDER THE ROCK”

“Svatý Jan pod skalou” is one of the most picturesque villages in national nature reserve “Český kras”. It abounds in many natural beauties and there are many historical monuments. LEGEND OF SAINT IVAN Historyof the village started from the end of the 9th century, according to legend, first Czech Christian hermit Ivan was settled in a cave under a massive rock wall. Hermit Ivan, lived in local travertine caves, which are conserved till todays. Ivan was the son of a Slavic prince Gostimila. He gave up his profane life and styed in solitude for 42 years. He went to the local valley and he decided to stay here. So God has sent him a doe to keep him nourished with milk. In the cave he was temptedattempted by evil spirits, he wanted to leave the cave. While he was leaving, Saint John the Baptist appered to him. Saint John gave him a wooden cross which helped to Ivan to get rid of the evil. Legend tells also a story of the meeting of hermit Ivan and Czech prince Bořivoj. Bořivoj was hunting for the bear and he shot Ivan’s doe instead. Prince tracked teh injured doe in front of Ivan’s cave. Prince was very sorry for the doe who feeded Saint Ivan. So he invited Ivan to his nearby castle and Ivan didn´t wnat to leave his solitude. But he told the prince the message from St. John the Baptist: “God said, that you have to built the church sacrified to Our Lady and Saint Cross and me make its patron. “ According to legend, after Ivan’s death really Prince really was built a little chapel here, which in the 11th century came under the administration of the Benedictine monastery.

CHURCH OF ST. John the Baptist Respect for hermit Ivan was incresing and the importance of the church and monastery grew. In 1661 large baroque church was built according to project by the Italian architect Carlo Lurago. The massive stone building was built on soft and wet ground of a former creek, causing early sinking buildings and cracked walls and vaults. In 1711 church was rebuilt by Christopher Dienzenhofer. Complex of church and monastery was finished in 1731. The monastery was closed by emperor Joseph II. in 1785. Possession of the monastery was then sold in an auction. A part of the monastery was used for industrial manufacturing (tannery, spinning mill, paper mill). In the years 1904 - 1912 the former building of the monastery functioned as modern spa. In 1914 the complex was bought by the convent of the School bothers religious order and established a teachers’ institute here. He was there until 1942, when it was canceled by the German occupation administration. In 1949 communist government established here a labor camp and in 1951-55 even female prison. Then there was the training center of new members of the communist secret police. From 1985, the building was used as an archive. In 1994 the monastery was returned to the church and the Higher Pedagogical School was installed here.

The domestic goat (Capra aegagrus hircus) is a subspecies of goat domesticated from the wild goat of southwest Asia and Eastern Europe. Goats are among the earliest animals domesticated by humans. The most recent genetic analysis[6] confirms the archaeological evidence that the wild Bezoar ibex of the Zagros Mountains are the likely origin of almost all domestic goats today. Goats are considered small livestock animals, compared to bigger animals such as cattle, camels and horses, but larger than microlivestock such as poultry, rabbits, cavies, and bees. Each recognized breed of goats has specific weight ranges, which vary from over 140 kg (300 lb) for bucks of larger breeds such as the Boer, to 20 to 27 kg (45 to 60 lb) for smaller goat does.Within each breed, different strains or bloodlines may have different recognized sizes. At the bottom of the size range are miniature breeds such as the African Pygmy, which stand 41 to 58 cm (16 to 23 in) at the shoulder as adults. Goats are reputed to be willing to eat almost anything, including tin cans and cardboard boxes. While goats will not actually eat inedible material, they are browsing animals, not grazers like cattle and sheep, and (coupled with their highly curious nature) will chew on and taste just about anything remotely resembling plant matter to decide whether it is good to eat, including cardboard, clothing and paper (such as labels from tin cans). Goats are extremely curious and intelligent. They are also very coordinated and widely known for their ability to climb and hold their balance in the most precarious places. This makes them the only ruminant able to climb trees, although the tree generally has to be on somewhat of an angle. Due to their agility and inquisitiveness, they are notorious for escaping their pens by testing fences and enclosures, either intentionally or simply because they are handy to climb on. If any of the fencing can be spread, pushed over or down, or otherwise be overcome, the goats will almost inevitably escape. Due to their high intelligence, once a goat has discovered a weakness in the fence, it will exploit it repeatedly, and other goats will observe and quickly learn the same method. Life expectancy for goats is between fifteen and eighteen years.
