“Matt R. Allen is an Associate Professor in the Entrepreneurship Division, Faculty Director for the Institute for Famil y Entrepreneurship, and Academic Director for the Global Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practices (STEP) Project. His expertise is in the effective management of human capital within entrepreneurial environments, especially family enterprises. He teaches entrepreneurship and family entrepreneurship courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. In addition, Professor Allen has been involved in executive education programs across the world with a special interest in Latin America. “Patrick Garcia is an Assistant Professor of Management at the University of Vermont. Prior to this appointment, Patrick worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Australian National University where he also earned his PhD degree in Business (Organizational Behavior). His research focuses on the antecedents, mechanisms, and consequences of workplace aggression (e.g., supervisory abuse and workplace deviance) as well as the role of socio-cognitive factors in career development. He has won best paper awards at the Annual Conference of the US Academy of Management (AoM, Social Issues in Management Division, 2011) and the Australian Industrial/Organizational Psychology Conference (2011). Patrick has also published in well-respected outlets such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Research in Personality, and Journal of Career Assessment.”

“Anna Grady joined RNRG’s human resources department in 2006, bringing over 20 years of diverse work experience across higher education, manufacturing, youth services, and international development. Anna previously oversaw six departments as Director of Administration for Northlands Job Corps, a U.S. Department of Labor program where young students receive job and life skills training. Prior to that, she served as a clinic liaison manager for Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont for Planned Parenthood of Northern New England. She also worked for IBM Corporation as a tactical marketing manager. While pursuing her own advertising career on Madison Avenue in NYC, Holson occasionally partnered with her father in consulting family businesses in issues of generational transition. Eventually, when she relocated to Vermont in the 90s, Holson undertook her own entrepreneurial adventures. After 10 years of publishing a newspaper, she sold the business locally and embarked on a stint in academia, where she taught business and humanities courses at several Vermont colleges. She is currently Director of Marketing for Twincraft Skincare, a Vermont-based, family-owned contract manufacturer of specialty soap and skincare products. Holson earned a BA in Linguistics at the University of Michigan and an MBA from the Darden School at University of Virginia.”

“Susan Hughes is an associate professor of accounting the University of Vermont. Prior to joining the UVM faculty in 2006, she spent 17 years teaching at Butler University in Indianapolis where she was twice elected the faculty commencement speaker by the senior class and the recipient of other teaching awards. Her research has been published in the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of International Accounting, Auditing & Taxation, Research in Accounting Regulation, Advances in Environmental Accounting, Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Accounting Education, Accounting Education: An International Journal, Strategic Finance, Management Accounting Quarterly, and other publications. She has presented numerous research papers at meetings of the American Accounting Association, the Institute of Management Accountants, the European Accounting Association, and other national and international accounting conferences. “P. Devereaux (Dev) Jennings is a Professor of Strategy and Organization and the Coordinator of the Canadian Center for Corporate Social Responsibility (CCCSR) at the Alberta School of Business. Dev does research in three areas: environmental regulation and management from an institutional angle, entrepreneurial processes in nano and clean technology, and family business dynamics from the embeddedness perspective. Over the years with his diverse groups of co-authors, he has published in Administrative Science Quarterly, the Academy of Management Journal, the Academy of Management Review, and the American Journal of Sociology. Dev has also been involved for some time in editing, having served as Action Editor for the Academy of Management Review, Co-Founding Editor of Strategic Organization, Field Editor of the Journal of Business Venturing, and Associate Editor at Administrative Science Quarterly. Dev received his Ph.D. and M.A. from Stanford University and his A.B. from Dartmouth College. “

JENNIFER JENNINGS jennifer.jennings@ualberta.ca Professor University of Alberta Canada “Jennifer E. Jennings (formerly Jennifer E. Cliff ) is the Winspear Professor and Associate Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise within the Alberta School of Business at the University of Alberta. The author of a coedited book entitled “Firms within Families: Enterprising in Diverse Country Contexts”, Jennifer has published several journal articles and book chapters on family business and the family embeddedness of entrepreneurial activity. One of these appears on a list of the “25 Most Influential Family Business Articles” and another on the Family Firm Institute’s list of “13 Suggested Readings from FBR”. On the teaching front, Jennifer played a lead role in the launch of Canada’s first undergraduate major in entrepreneurship and family enterprise and was the recipient of the University of Alberta’s 2011 McCalla Teaching Award. She has served terms on the Executive Committee for the Entrepreneurship Division of the worldwide Academy of Management and as a Field Editor at the Journal of Business Venturing. Jennifer received her BComm from Carleton University in 1990 and her
