DATA COMPILATION 2015

NORWAY BASIN (JAS-05, NB-07 AND JAS-12) Better mapping of the Norway Basin required new surveys on both sides of the pre-existing Aegir Ridge survey (NB-90) acquired by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in 1990 (Fig. 1).

MAIN GOALS:

The compilation of the JAS-05, NB-07 and JAS-12 surveys allowed us to refine the tectonic and magmatic evolution of the Norway Basin and adjacent margins. The main faults, structure and magnetic anomalies have be reinterpreted using a systematic comparison between bathymetry, gravity, magnetic patterns and available seismic data.

• To map more precisely the magnetic spreading anomalies and oceanic fracture zones

• To constrain the location of the continentocean boundary

• To test the validity of assumed structural and magnetic features • To provide an updated geodynamic model for the Norway Basin, Møre margin and the Jan Mayen microcontinent. ORDERING: Survey
