S P I R I T T O U R E R A Rolls-Royce Shooting brake Final Major Project / Coventry University BRIEF / A car interior should be treated as a personal retreat. This project is about an electric shooting brake that explores dynamism in the longevity of the vehicle with simple geometry and configurable interior design. Spirit Tourer looks into providing users with various seating configurations.
+ With extensive development of natural environment, there is steady rise of outdoor activities such as camping trips proving an optimistic change in perception and domestic behaviour in Europe. This spawns the next of luxury travel - sustainability.

E X T E R I O R D E S I G N The concept is a fully electric shooting brake that makes use of the efficient electric powertrain to offer enhancements of interior room. With the flexibility of the interior components, the bespoke cabin offers a dynamic social space for four or an exclusive retreat for one. The rear end design emphasizes on the practical nature of the car and its travelling spirit - the tail gate finisher and tail light design indicates a compass symbol.

Extended cabin configuration: Using the space available on both sides, the two seat extend to create a pass through to the rear compartment while rotating 5 degrees towards each other to encourage sociability.

C O C K P I T In autonomous driving, the singular module of the dashboard slides away from the driver seat to provide more room for the driver. The slightly raised position of the floor piece allows manual override of autonomy by pressing down on either pedal.

C E N T R A L H U B The Central hub combines an analogue clock and infotainment control to optimize the assets on the dashboard further enhancing the minimalist design. The design portrays a compass symbol with its engraving to hint at the travelling nature of the vehicle. Its safe lock inspired hour and minute hands feature intricate laser etched details.
C O N T R O L H U B Placed on the far left of the dashboard, driver’s control houses main controls for ignition, lighting, door operation and central locking. The four ‘chaplets’ operate independently interacting with the surrounding interactive display.

R E A R C A B I N The facade over the luggage compartment scatters a unique ambience in the rear of the cabin the same way a particular spot or room in a home differs from the rest.

despite the lines and details exclusive to this carriage, they connect with the rest of the train thriving for continuity without effecting the Siemens’ original design. the simple livery design enhances the surfacing and connection throughout the entire train with a contrasting colour scheme. the white pinstripes takes inspiration from Veyron ‘Black Bess’ special edition, unique to this premium carriage.

CENTRAL ARMREST the rear compartment in the centre console has been redesigned to accommodate a small handbag or any similarly sized items with large access and easy operation. the compartment is also fitted with a new LED light strip for added illumination.

#MAGICCARPET rolls-royce cars have been renowned for the magic carpet ride driving experience and this piece of furniture proposes yet another example to follow the motto. the sofa is designed as a single piece suspended from the ceiling to create a warming social space for three or a floating personal space for one.

material variety is kept considerate. carbon fibre is chosen for its lightness & strength ratio to deliver a seamless continuous look while showing bmw group’s expertise in the material. white silk combined with the softness of the cushions is delicate to the touch to ease user to complete comfort & relaxation. two ergonomically design brushed copper dials control the overhead lighting system & add highlights to user’s usability as well as detailing.
the large cushions are carefully divided into four main articles for an optimum removal of lines leaving an easy welcoming environment. the slight curvature of the base gently pulls the users towards each other for better engagement while the backrest leans backwards accordingly to stimulate the space.
SPIRIT OF ECSTASY along with the Spirit of Ecstasy engraving, the signature single coachline is also carved into the large brushed copper panel.
