In the past, superstitions played a very important role in the lives of most people around the world. They truly believed in their superstitions and didn't care about the downsides of superstition. People spent a lot of money buying votive items. When they burn them, it leads to many harmful effects on the environment. In addition, people have to devote many hours to superstitions, so their mental health will be affected by trusting superstition. Fortunately, nowadays, people believe in superstitions just for fun and positively, so superstition brings many benefits to people. Superstition is a form of belief that has existed for a long time and it still exists to these days. When it comes to superstition, Japan is also a country with longstanding superstitions. For example. Firstly, when the Japanese sleep, they never turn their head to the north. Because they believe that people who sleep with their heads to the north have a short life and are more likely to die early. Second, when Japanese people do business, they often put a cat in front of the shop. because cats are said to be good luck in business. Finally, it is not advisable to stick chopsticks in a bowl of rice because it is believed that sticking chopsticks in rice is only done during funerals. In short, superstition is not as widespread as it was in the past, but it still exists all around us. Superstition is always more harmful than good, so I hope people change the way they think about superstition.

In Vietnam, there are plenty of precious traditions and customs that have been preserved and developed to this day, but there are also superstitions that should be removed. In some remote areas, people are often very superstitious about gods. When they get sick, they don’t go to the doctor but go to worship the gods. Once they have trouble or bad luck, they do rituals to worship the gods meaninglessly and extravagantly. This not only doesn't help them, but makes their lives more difficult. For another example, when a couples are going to marriage, their parents always go to a fortune teller to see the couples’ ages. If the fortune teller say that the couples’ages couldn’t match, their parents will try to stop them from coming together. This is so cruel and unreasonable because they may prevent their children from leading a free and happy life. To change this situation, we must work together to propagate and develop the modern thinking, especially in remote areas.
Superstition is a part of the culture of many countries. It has both advantages and disadvantages. Each ethnic group has different beliefs about what they consider lucky. It is this that makes the difference between cultures, helping them to become rich and diverse. Superstitions are also used to teach about things related to morality such as being gentle and kind, the place people will belong when dying, etc... Things like the devil can be used to teach children such as should go to bed early. Besides these benefits, superstitions also bring some disadvantages. Some people have so much faith in superstitions, they can do anything to be true to their thoughts even if it adversely affects others. Some heretics are born based on taking advantage of other people's beliefs in spirituality, using it as a tool to benefit themselves. It creates misconceptions about the world and causes many problems for society. In short, superstition is an inevitable fact, a beauty in cultural life and contributes to an interesting life. However, do not blindly believe in these superstitions.

As for traditional beliefs, Vietnamese people think that their ancestors have gone to live in another world. Thus, they usually worship their ancestor on special occasions.
