How the Sea Turned Salty

Once upon a time the sea was salt-free and clear as glass Back then you could simply take a bucket, fill the bucket and drink.

Then one day, a king near the shore of Greece was on a walk in his garden, when he found a satyr lying in the path hungry and thirsty The satyr then begged “Please, spare an old satyr and give me some food and water” The king, wanting to save the old satyr from death, rushed into his castle, found some food and water and handed it to the satyr. The instant that he had the food in his hands, the old satyr transformed into a handsome man who was most definitely the godApollo.

Apollo then spoke in a commanding voice, “You have a kind heart. I will give you one wish that I am bound to grant you ”The king bowed and without any hesitation wished that he had an object that would spew out anything he desired. Apollo then told the king to have a long nice nap and when he awoke, it would be underneath his bed. So, the king did just that.

When he woke up, the king thought his encounter with Apollo might have been a dream. So he checked underneath the bed and found a bull’s horn. The king pulled the horn out and asked it to pour out gold bars. The horn flooded the room with gold bars!

One night, a thief who had heard of the magical horn stole it from the castle and sailed away with it.Then the thief who was a salt seller thought of making more money by using the horn to create so much salt that he would live like a king The salt merchant then told the horn ”Make me lots of salt!” but the horn didn’t give out anything. He kept on trying until all of a sudden, the horn poured out so much salt that the boat sank within seconds. And as far as I know, the horn is still pouring out salt to this day
