We are committed to a proactive approach to the provision of programmes that focus on effective interventions with perpetrators of domestic violence. We believe that engaging with perpetrators can reduce risk therefore promoting greater safety for those experiencing domestic violence.

Support Services Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programme (DVPP) The DVPP is a community based programme within Kirklees. It aims to support male perpetrators of domestic violence with an Integrated Support service that works with female partners or ex partners of those attending the programme. The DVPP is managed and run by the National Children’s Centre working in partnership with Pennine Domestic Violence Group (PDVG).

Integrated Support Service (ISS) The ISS aims to provide partners of those attending the DVPP programme with one to one and group support.

Information Sharing Information will be exchanged between the DVPP and ISS in relation to changes in risk, engagement with the programme and any other relevant information. This will be done on a weekly basis with significant concerns discussed within 24 hours.

Group Sessions A group programme will also be made available to those accessing the ISS. The sessions will run for two hours per week for twelve weeks.

It is not compulsory for partners/ ex partners to access the ISS, however if they choose to they will be able to seek support on an ongoing one to one basis at a location they feel comfortable with.

For children to have safer, healthier childhoods

Longer term economic benefits.

Sessions are designed to provide individuals with the following: 

Support in building self-esteem and confidence to improve quality of life

An understanding of the beliefs held by perpetrators.

Help in recognizing potential abusers.

How does it work? Partners /ex partners are referred through the DVPP service. The ISS Support worker will make contact with individuals within one week of the perpetrator starting the DVPP.

Aims and Outcomes:

 An understanding of the effects on children and young people.  Introduction and education on community responses.
