CHRISTMAS SEASON

Can you feel it yet? That crisp sweep to the night air, as days grow shorter, and every human soul reaches and stretches, growing with goodwill and nostalgia, as we say farewell to another brilliant year. Filled with blessed emotions, we all answer the summons to gather close to those we love and cherish, to celebrate the love and affinity we are all lucky enough to experience. And there is one very special place, above all others, that ignites these feelings of togetherness and most importantly community spirit. Where could that be? Around our Christmas Tree of course!

There is a loving, mystical sense of sentimentality to gathering around a Christmas tree. The shared laughter, as little hands and big ones hang treasured ornaments. Some passed along for generations, others brand new, but all still emanating with the intimate affection this season fills our hearts with.

It is vital to the Bermuda Heroes Weekend Team to devote not only their energies, but also their time, to partaking in these traditions of warm fellowship with their fellow Bermudians.

DECK THE HALLS

This season they continued to strengthen these familial bonds and build new ones, as they, through the kind sponsorship of Sousas Landscaping, donated and decorated a wonderful new Christmas tree to the elders living at the Lefroy House.

With open arms, and profound friendship, the BHW team alongside their families flowed together as one under the lights, while they enjoyed the heartfelt wonder that only such a moment can bring to life.

This harmonious ritual moved every soul in attendance, proving yet again, that sometimes the simplest of traditions, tend to have the most meaning for us all.

Greatly symbolic, this Christmas tree stands as a promise of hope for the future, built on BHW Ltd.’s commitment to always remember and revere their entire and extended Bermudian family.

A community of living legends, who freely share lessons and guidance to Bermudians wise enough to seek their counsel and company.

YOUTH SALVATION

Is it better to give or receive during the holiday season? And what makes the best gift? Two eternal questions that have become increasingly more difficult to answer as we grow older. But if life has taught us anything thus far, it is that the one gift each and every person values-

- above all else when Christmas comes around, is actually our most precious commodity in this modern age. Time. Luckily with time, giving and receiving, are both equally satisfying to our souls.

This reasoning combined with BHW Ltd.’s ongoing commitment to meaningfully contribute to all of the people of Bermuda, was the motivation for the team as a collective to volunteer with the local Salvation Army.

DONATE

BHW LTD, INVITES EVERYONE TO GIVE WHAT THEY CAN, EVEN THEIR TIME.

Which is why last Saturday they spent hours packing baskets at the Botanical Gardens, ensuring that this Christmas is merry for everyone, especially those for whom it may have looked particularly bleak. The team felt overwhelmed in the best possible way as they worked side by side with the exemplars of the Salvation Army, who have dedicated their entire lives to servicing and helping those we in society are all too ready to forget. That level of singleminded devotion 365 days a year was definitely inspiring to behold and contribute to.

Hearing their stories about those they serve and the dire situations too many find themselves in, pushed the BHW Ltd. team to work selflessly and arduously while there. As we all enjoy this season of reflection and generosity, we strongly encourage everyone to get out of their comfort zones and to give freely and deeply back to the country and countrymen that have shaped us all into being. Focus on what has true meaning and value to your fellowman.

PREPARING BAGS WITH THE SALVATION ARMY

Time spent caring and ensuring each of us is comfortable and safe this Christmas season. We live in an era where it has become too easy for us to hand over money and dismiss all else. Try something different this year; liberally give your most precious commodity. Your time. Trust us when we say the energy and feeling such acts will generate, will be felt as this Christmas season unfolds and most assuredly for many seasons untold after.
