Incandescent Outrage (IO) is primarily a women’s streetwear brand, aiming to target the Early Adopter, late Millennial demographic. The unique selling point of IO will be the unmistakably exclusive and anarchic vibe, through its creation of purposeful yet fashion forward produce. It is designed to embody a new subculture uniform for the head-strong and recalcitrant. A recent trend amongst youth has developed, highlighting an inactive lifestyle, influencing the silhouette of the brand. However, IO endeavours to revolt against the torpid lifestyle, taking initial inspiration from the social rebellion of the Punk era. It utilises, but never duplicates, key Punk features and juxtaposes them with current youth fashion. Inspiration from Vivienne Westwood’s ethos ‘Buy less. Choose well. Make it last’, has underlined a gap in the market for a brand that supplies high quality garments that are also avant-garde and appeal to the social-media reliant Millennials.

THROUGH INTRICATE MOULAGING, THIS CORSET WAS GENERATED. THE DECISION TO HAVE THE SEAMS SITTING ON THE OUTSIDE STEMMED FROM THE PUNK INFLUENCE. RAW EDGE DESIGN FEATURE ON COLLAR AND BACK PANELLED FRONT PIECE

THIS TOP WAS CREATED FIRSTLY THROUGH MODELLING ON THE STAND TO WORK OUT THE LOGISTICS OF THE BACK DESIGN. ONCE THIS WAS DECIDED, THE SILHOUETTE WAS CAREFULLY MODIFIED TO CREATE A LOOSE FITTING.

DURING THE CREATION OF THIS JUMPSUIT MANY OBSTACLES WERE OVERCOME IN ORDER TO GENERATE A SUITABLE OVERSIZED YET FLATTERING SHAPE.

THIS WAS A DEVELOPMENT FROM THE CORSET IN LOOK 1. IT WAS DECREASED IN HEIGHT AND SHAPED MORE AT THE WAIST.


THE INITIAL STAGE WAS DISCOVERING THE RIGHT BODY SHAPE FOR THE HOODIE. THIS WAS DEVELOPED FOUR TIMES UNTIL A SUITABLE SILHOUETTE WAS EMBODIED.

THE MAIN PRIORITY FOR THESE TRACKSUIT TROUSERS WAS THE LEG SHAPE; KEEPING IT WIDE ENOUGH BUT NOT TOO OVERSIZED. SECONDLY, THE PLEATS INSERTED INTO THE FRONT AND BACK; DECISIONS ON THE POSITION AND HOW MANY TO CREATE WAS OF IMPORTANCE HERE.

PHOTOGRAPHY HAS TAKEN INFLUENCE FROM RECENT GOSHA AND YEEZY LOOKBOOKS. AS WELL AS LIGHTING AND POSES FROM THE VETEMENTS SS18 ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN. THE LOW ANGLE WAS A PINNACLE FEATURE OF ALL SHOTS.

THIS FOLLOW ON COLLECTION HAS BEEN DESIGNED FOR THE NEWEST MILLENIAL DEMOGRAPHIC; 17-21yr GIRLS. THE SPRING/ SUMMER RESEARCH HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM THE RECENT TREND ‘REBEL YOUTH’ WHICH FOLLOWS A SIMILAR ETHOS AS INCANDESCENT OUTRAGE. WITH A HEAVY FOCUS ON CUSTOMIZED DESIGN AND GEOMETRIC, GRAPHIC PRINT TAKEN FROM THE GRAFITTI ARTIST LADY PINK. A COLLABORATION WITH CLOTHING BRAND ‘DECK’ WILL AID THE ENTRY INTO THE MARKET OF A YOUNGER AGE RANGE.


INITIAL RESEARCH


DUE TO THE SUMMER SEASON, THE SILHOUETTE IS TIGHT AND SHORT; INFLUENCES FROM THE 50S AND 60S HAVE COME THROUGH WITH THE LARGER HIGH WAISTED BRIEFS. LAYERING IS OF IMPORTANCE WITH STYLING PIECES LIKE THE FISH NET CYCLE SHORT.

PRINT DEVELOPMENT

THE COLLABORATION WITH DECK WILL INITIATE A SPORT-LUXE IMAGE TO INCANDESCENT OUTRAGE. THE LOGO WILL BE PRINTED ON A SELECTION OF THE GARMENTS. PRINTS HAVE BEEN INSPIRED BY NEW YORK GRAFFITI ARTISTS.

This collection has been inspired by Lagos Fashion Week, Research was undertaken at the Brighton Museum, which displayed some key pieces from the most recent fashion show. The African influence has been combined with 70s disco influence; this theme has been chosen due to heavy research into photographer, Guy Bourdin through his vibrant images displayed at Somerset House. The decision to create a printed collection came from the Coach x Baseman Collaboration.
