This week is an amazing opportunity for you to explore campus, meet new people and have fun going to all sorts of different events, shows and parties. Starting University is an opportunity for you to expand your horizons and try out lots of new things so be sure to get stuck in and ask plenty of questions. There’s so many exciting things going on this week (The Venga Bus is coming and I’m definitely jumping) and this guide will help you work out where you want to be when. I’m one of the four full time student officers, and I’ll be loving life here, there and everywhere this Freshers’ Week so do come up and say hi. Even better than that, if you entertain me then I may reward you with one of my sabb dollars which you can spend at the end of the week in the auction. If you aren’t already then get excited. Freshers’ Week is simply amazing and EUSA have pulled out all the stops for you so just let the fun takeover.

Bristo Sq, Meeting Point A 5:00pm–6:00pm

Amnesty International Society

‘Verona’s the place from where our play is picked! Two families lived there...and MAN were they ticked!’ Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies, but it’s not as accessible to modern audiences as we’d like. So we have decided to shake it up a bit with Peter Bloedel’s Seussy retelling of the great classic. Silly, colourful, and fun, all while entirely spoken in rhyming tetrameter!

Come along to a human rights themed tour of central Edinburgh that will inform you about a range of human rights related issues found on campus and in the city.

Teviot, Dining Room 5:00pm–6:30pm

£2.50/ £3.00

The cult classic ‘Pulp Fiction’ combines classic crime and film noir with crazy video game style violence. Definitely a must-see. If you haven’t already seen it (or even if you have) there’s no better way to view it than with your fellow Freshers on the big screen.

Pop along to Bedlam Theatre to audition for one of our upcoming shows - Khamosh Pani and The Oak Tree.

In the midst of a luxurious dinner-party, five people are sent mysterious invitations requiring them to attend the party with only one other instruction: to read and discover.

This 90s comedy by Michael Frayn takes a light-hearted look at the frustrations and misunderstandings wrought by technology in our modern lives. It is a group of short plays involving a dinner plagued by gadgets, a noisy party, and an ill-fated mission to pick up a guest from the airport.

A perfect place to fall in love with your one true love…and by ‘love’ we mean charity! A collaborative speed dating event bringing students and university charities together to find their perfect match. There will be lots of cake, great music and a relaxed (romantic) atmosphere, perfect for finding that special charity!
