Introducing a new way of life CPS live Limited, together with a team of German engineers, architects, urban designers and permaculture specialists spent the last three years developing a master plan for a comprehensive residential housing project on a 1.5km stretch of breathtaking seashore on the west coast of Zanzibar. The project is promoted by ZIPA (Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority) and enjoys full support of the government of Zanzibar and Tanzania.
Our efforts are aimed at coexisting harmoniously with our environment and respecting the beauty and abundance of nature. The structure of the houses is a state-of-the-art composition of multi-layered, fast growing plantation wood, fibre-reinforced composite and fibre insulation. All materials are chosen according to German quality standards, complying with the requirements of the local ecosystem and treated for complete safety against parasites.

Our sustainable approach to human settlements Permaculture is a holistic design science to create sustainable human settlements that function in harmony with nature. Through Permaculture we strive to meet human needs by not only imitating, but regenerating nature. Therefore, the focus of permaculture is not on each separate element, but rather on the relationships created amongst the elements. The way they are placed together makes the whole becoming greater than the sum of its parts. Permaculture seeks to maximize the level of synergy between design elements and to minimize waste, human labour and energy input. The designs evolve over time by taking these relationships and elements into account. The systems and synergies can become extremely complex, producing a high density of food and other natural resources with minimal input. The main aim of the project is the integrative application of the 4 C's – Conservation, Community, Culture and Commerce. Fumba Town aims to create these synergies between the people, the buildings and the environment to benefit the whole.

With education and empowerment of the local farmers, we create a green oasis with a pleasant climate throughout the year, naturally ventilated by its green areas with multibeneficial tree species. Our bee-keeping project will play a central role with the abundance of bee-beneficial plants, flowers and trees. A traditional food forest, planted on the perimeters of the development will produce various fruits and perennial vegetables all year round. By improving the existing biodiversity, long term growth and productivity of various plant families will be insured. Fumba’s closed water cycle comprises water wise gardens and green drains to permanently recharge ground water levels. It insures that no water, no matter if clean or grey water, will leave the property. Our Fumba Town Service Center (FTSC) focuses on waste management, recycling and composting.
