TO SUPPORT THE KIDNEY FUNCTION – these days, many horses suffer from metabolic problems. This is frequently associated with overloading the excretory organs such as the liver and the kidneys, which can therefore no longer provide the performance required. Feeding Stiefel Kidney Herbs can regulate and promote water excretion in a natural manner. It can thus support excretion through the kidneys. With stinging nettle, birch leaves, silverweed, goldenrod, fi eld horsetail and ginkgo. Now available as juice (see page 15).

METABOLISM HERBS · METABOLISM HERBAL JUICE
GOOD FOR THE SUGAR METABOLISM – the selected herbs can have a natural content of chromium. Chromium is particularly important for the metabolism of carbohydrates, which means also sugar in particular. Weed and grain contains often too much sugar, which can cause overweight for a horse. A feed-related lack of the chromium trace element reduces glucose tolerance, which may cause major weight gain and also may impede weight loss more diffi cult. With fenugreek, blueberry leaves, stinging nettle, shepherd‘s purse, cinnamon. Now available as juice (see page 15).

DIGESTION AND STOMACH
A horse’s digestive process begins in its mouth, where its feed is crushed between its teeth and predigested through salivation. It then continues to the stomach where its nutrients are further broken down by gastric acid. From here it travels as „ingesta“ into the small intestine, where enzymatic digestion and absorption into the circulatory system occur. Crude fi bre feeds such as hay, straw and grass primarily travel on to the large intestine, where they are handled by micro-organisms which transform this fi bre into important fatty acids and vitamins. Horses are unfortunately quite susceptible to digestive ailments. These problems can often be remedied through targeted supplementary feeding.

FLEA SEED · BENEFITS FOR THE INTESTINAL TRACT
Flea seed husks are suitable for supporting the self-cleaning function of the gut. They can also stimulate gut activity. Swelling of the fl ea seeds in the gut increases the fi lling pressure and thus stimulates peristaltic action. NOTICE: Flea seed husks MUST always be completely soaked before application, as their extreme swelling capacity may also cause constipation. In addition, horses should always have unlimited access to water.

Linseed is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, particularly in alpha-linoleic acid (C18:3), vitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin D. Linseed granulate is linseed cake ready for feeding. The oil content has been gently reduced by cold pressing and the product is therefore even more digestive and compatible. The high content of mucilage in Stiefel Linseed results in a positive effect on the digestive system as well as coat and skin, in particular when the feed is imbalanced. It may also provide positive support during coat changes.

Sarah Enzweiler:
„For sensitive gastrointestinal tracts, I like to give the stomach herbs and intestinal herbs in alternation to support stomach and intestines in the best way possible. The horses eat both herbal mixes willingly without hesitation, even right out of my hand. On cold days especially, I pour warm water on the herb mixtures and feed them to the horses as a herbal tea. My horses love these herbs.”
