The Music Room
Meet you at the front…

Here in the Midlands our music scene is growing – post pandemic there is a renewed thirst for live music, and it feels like musicians are once again adding our music venues to their tours with increasing frequency.
Supporting our grassroots venues is so important in order to nurture new talent and keep our region on the map for touring musicians – after all a tour doesn’t only support the musicians themselves but the crew behind them and the staff at the venue itself.
In the next few months, I intend to be down the front for as many artists as possible – see you there?
The Smyths “Strangeways 35” at the O2 Scholar Leicester Friday November 18th
Regarded by some (including the band themselves) as the best Smiths album, before thoughts of hearing the songs live could excite the mind of fans, the band broke up and the album was released to a fan base mourning the loss of their favourite band - a band whose iconic status was assured some years before. For almost 20 years The Smyths have been the prevalent ‘sound’ of The Smiths. Less of a traditional tribute band, The Smyths are a total experience of the songs live - played with passion and accuracy with a muscle and energy suggesting just how the Smiths themselves would sound today. From Glastonbury to International Tours, a Smyths show is an exhilarating two hour escape into a world of nostalgia (for those who were there), a glimpse of what it must have been like to experience the thrill and urgency of a Smiths show. ‘Strangeways” 35 sees The Smyths combine the best of the classic album with a second set of fans’ firm favourites from the iconic cannon of classic albums and hits.
