Shape Your Experience

Your Career Starts Here

U

nlike many schools that largely leave it

up to students to prepare for their careers, Nichols has a very structured, very focused four-year

career-training program called the Professional

Development Seminar series. This first-of-its-kind program consists of one-credit-hour courses, offered over 12 consecutive weeks. Each class, which builds on the last, focuses on helping you develop skills that will attract and impress potential employers. Year 1: Making the Transition Discover what it takes to succeed in college and the real world by learning how to set goals, manage your time, and build relationships.

Ryan, Class of 2013 Management Major

Year 2: Exploring Your Options As you explore majors and internship choices, you’ll learn how to build and present your portfolio and craft a resume and cover letter. Year 3: Tightening Your Skills The focus moves to how to impress employers as you hone your interviewing skills and learn how to network at career fairs.

“Through classes at Nichols, many doors have been opened that I can walk through with a valuable set of tools and knowledge that will allow me to be the most successful person I can possibly be.”

Year 4: Launching Your Career During your final year in the PDS program you’ll discover how to successfully transition from college to your career, including financial literacy and salary negotiation techniques.
