Personal Branding
A
rt works produced by amateurs have great vitality and passion. They are rule breakers, they trigger the same feelings with the crowd; they have original power out of their nature... Compared with those "professionals", amateurs are anti-authority, anti-fancy, antitechnocratic, anti-pretentious. They are focused, they move toward "professionalism".
Half bottle of Vinegar Is a personal flash-based website designed to show my design works and photos.
Meng Jinghui, mainland Experimental Theatre Director
Time: 2013.7
Ideas In Chinese, "half bottle of vinegar" means one person is just an amateur in some field. As my major was not design in university, I am just an amateur. But I want to pursue "professionalism". In this logo, I used a vinegar bottle as the main visual identifier.
Style Style of the logo was inspired by the doodles drawn by the blue ballpen. The personal website adopts a style of hand writing letters. I hope the visitors feel like reading a letter when openning this website page.
When visiting this website, people would see the page showed from an unfolding envelope. The music starts to play. Visitors could choose to visit the works or gallery through the content part photos or the navigation bar.

Traversing the Silk Road Is a special page designed to tell stories about the ancient Silk Road. The Silk Road is a centuries-old trade route, but changes happen here every day. Most of the reports tell stories about new development. The page needs to deliver new feelings.
Time: 2014.9
The layout of the page could be divided into 3 parts, the navigation bar, play window and side bar. After research, I made the mood board. The banner uses the map of Gansu Province (east part of Silk Road). Click the city names on the map would go to the tag directly. To emphasize the changes on the Silk Road, I put some bright colors in the page.

The Branding of Liqian Gansu Province's City of Liqian is known for its local residents whose physical characteristics differ from the China's Han majority. In the 1940s one professor of Chinese history postulated that the reason for this phenomenon could be that the Liqian residents have Roman ancestry dating back to 36 BC...

Wa n d e r i n g M a g a z i n e Is a magazine produced by a shopping mall in Beijing. The client wants the page displayed in the mobile version of the magazine. I followed the style of the magazine and redid the layout to make it readable on mobiles.
President Xi's Visit to the U.K. Last year China Radio International (CRI) made a full coverage on President Xi Jinping's visit to the U.K. The page sums up all the productions made by CRI. As the page includes too much content, I divided the contents into three parts.
