FOLDING HOUSE MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA FALL 2013

Given a narrow site fo or a single family, live-work home, I decid ded to expllore e Jap pane ese architecture to study how w the house can appear largerr through design n deccisio ons. PIAZZA SAN MARCO VENICE, ITALY

MIAMI INTERMODAL MIAMI, FLORIDA

Th he purpose of the project was to design an intermoda al center for buses, seap plane es, an nd water taxis for the slip next to the Ame erican Airline es Arena.. I saw w the progrram as an n opportunity to design a water piazza, engaging the public and being the cen nterr of transportation for the downtown area. A hydropow wer syste em wo orks throug gh the sta airs, taking water from the bay and storring it in a po ool at the e front of th he slip. The wa ater levels communicate to the visitor whether it iss a high tide or low w tide e. The syystem powers the buildings on the site. For a fish market to perform every day functionss, it was imporrtant for us to o pllan a site that focuses on hygiene. Inspire ed by the Qu uerini Sta ampalia byy Carlo Sca arpa a, channels run through the site to quickly wash off the grround throu ugho out the dayy. The stalls are designed like crates liftted a few incches off the gro ound. Poo ols at eithe er end of the site store waste from the channels until the end d of th he da ay.
