EDF partners with Daikin UK on lowcarbon heating

EDF has joined with Daikin UK to help customers make their homes more energy efficient and discover low-carbon heating and hot water alternatives. The partnership gives EDF customers access to heat pumps from Daikin, and tariffs backed by zero-carbon electricity. It will also play an important role in educating consumers about eco-friendly heating solutions, says EDF, helping them make sustainable improvements to their homes and ensuring quality heat pump installations, eligible for the Green Homes Grant in England.

Chris Connon, senior manager of heat at EDF, says: “By 2035, we aim to help our household customers reduce their collective emissions by the equivalent of more than 70 per cent of that arising from their 2019 electricity and gas use. By partnering with Daikin, we’re able to increase awareness of renewable home heating and more specifically the benefits of heat pumps to our customers, as well as offering them a trusted supplier.”

Daikin UK commercial manager Iain Bevan adds: “There’s a clear role for the heating industry in educating consumers to help them make the right decisions for their homes, and our new partnership with EDF provides a great platform to do this.”

Thank you to David Rhodes, who sent us this photo of a boiler in cupboard with the condensate pipe ending in…. a vase. David made safe and brought the installation up to standard. Paul Goodchild found these gems: faults with the chimney termination, condense pipework, electrical fused spur position and the undersized gas supply. He made safe and advised his customer to contact Gas Safe Register because the boiler installation had been notified recently.

This month’s winner

Joel Guy spotted this installation in the car port of a neighbour’s property. The installation has now been made safe. Jason Hearn is showing everyone his sludge – and importance of cleaning out central

heating system filters. Peter Austin came across this plumbing fitting used as a gas connection to a hob, almost sitting on the electrics below. He made safe.
