Puteri Cove Residences Worked with Shma Company Limited Landscape Design Pelan Logasi, Johor Bahru, Malaysia
The Puteri Harbour is a mixed used marina development including commercial, residential, office spaces and public areas in Pelan Logasi, Malaysia. The landscape design concept of the Puteri Harbour combines elements of the earth’s landscape into the site by bringing in different types of natural landforms and ecological elements to use as design elements in order to create different atmospheric spaces throughout the development while addressing the client’s brief of a natural alcove with attention to privacy of individuals. There are altogether 7 natural landforms which are taken into inspiration: Rainforest, Archipelago, Delta, Rock, Cloud, Cove and lastly, Sand Dune. With the nature of the existing site that is quite varying in levels and topography from highest point at the development entrance to the low lying level of the sea, the landscape design emphasize on the organization of the sequencing of these 7 landforms concepts into 10 functional zones while playing with the changes in levels, creating a playful yet private and safe space for users. Starting from the Rainforest Entrance to the Puteri Harbour development, the concept focuses on a dense forest like environment with the introduction of plantings which are native to the rainforest and furthermore, be able to enhance the privacy of the development using vegetation as buffer elements from the outside. Not only for privacy purposes, the use of dense vegetation at the entrance area also exaggerated the mysterious yet attracting atmosphere to its visitors.
Concepts of Puteri Cove Designed to suit a variety of different lifestyles, Puteri Cove’s resort styled landscape and facilities projects a tropical heaven on earth where one can escape from the pressures of daily routines and luxuriate in lyrical moments amidst the calming waters and thoughtfully designed landscape amenities, right at the doorstep. Different types of natural landforms and ecological elements were incorporated into Puteri Cove’s landscape design in order to achieve different distinctive spaces. Taking inspiration from seven natural landforms such as Rainforest, Archipelago, Delta, Rock, Cloud, Cove and Sand Dune, SHMA transform these landform concepts into functional zones while creating a playful yet private and safe space for residents and visitors.

Delta Walk and Delta Promenade Zone Promenade
The Delta Walk and Delta Promenade zone of Puteri Harbour is an attracting area of the development as it truly enhances the beauty of the marina. The promenade is divided into the main deck along the marina and a plaza area comprising of retail spaces. In order to encourage activities along the promenade, seating islands are placed along the walk while the introduction of amphitheater step seating is placed towards the marina to act as a viewing platform for users to enjoy the view of the waterfront. The selection of vegetation along this area concentrates on trees that are native to water and beach front ecology and is resistant to wind and water vapor such as palm and frangipani trees. The placement of these trees along the promenade act as a buffer element between the retail zone and the promenade walk, creating a promenade walk which offer privacy while not completely cutting off from the retail functions. Moreover, lighting design is also taken into consideration to accompany the vegetation especially at night. Not only to showcase the trees, the lighting up of the promenade at night emphasizes the marina and its waterfront as a whole.

Archipelaco Zone Facilities Area on 4th Floor on Podium of Tower 1 & Tower 2 Moving inwards from the marina situates the Archipelago Pool which main concept is to design the landscape into a “Secret Garden alcove with pockets of sanctuary islands scattered throughout the area acting as resting and recreational spaces for users. Not only the Archipelago Pool comprises of various water activities from lap pool to Jacuzzi baths, a large range of activities are embedded within the area such as yoga deck, reflexology area, playground, lawn and sports court. Because of the change in levels of the existing site in this zone, the pools are divided into different levels by steps and stepped lawn, creating a series of sunken spaces for users to enjoy with privacy.
Cove Pool Facilities Area on Tower 3 Users and visitors to Puteri Harbour can also enjoy the view of the marina from a high point with design of the Cloud Pool and the Cloud Deck on the 13th ,16th and 17th floor of the development. Both spaces comprise of an observation terrace which allows for undisrupted views of the harbour front. All in all, the landscape design of Puteri Harbour development takes inspiration from the qualities of typical waterfront aesthetics elements such as its curved and welcoming alcove shape of the boat marina, resulting in the natural forms shaping the various functional zones throughout the entire development.

Mori Haus Condominuim Worked with Shma Company Limited Landscape Design Bangkok, Thailand
Mori Haus Condominium won the Excellence Award of Landscape for Residential Complex - Lowrise at this year TALA Award 2018 organized by Thai Association of Landscape Architect. We would like to thank you the client for the opportunity and also the consultant team for the great collaboration. “Valley” is the main concept in garden area design. The building that surrounds the garden area work as a mountain with trees that are growing in various places. The garden area is surrounded by a small hill from in curved shape as a stepping planter. A variety of plants are used to create a sense of nature and privacy in the garden area. Garden area includes the 25-meter long natural shaped pool as “lagoon” in the middle of the valley. The swimming pool includes a 25-meter long lap pool, a Jacuzzi pool, a children’s pool, and a fountain. This pool has a light that mimics the “Firefly” that is often seen in nature at night. There are special seating area features that create “Unique Sitting Experience” to the user, such as Mesh seat over the pool, Swings, Large Lounge Chair and Seats under the pavilion. Another highlight if this garden is the variety of plants that mimic wilderness in nature. It is a “Secret Forest” that have waterfront plants, ferns, fragrant flowers, natural meadows. Apart from the garden area at the first floor. It has the rooftop garden on the Clubhouse building which uses “Garden at the top of the hill” as a concept design. Feature tree at rooftop garden surrounded by large terraces with natural meadows and open view to the green space outside. The Line Condominium Sale Gallery Worked with Shma Company Limited Landscape Design Bangkok, Thailand
The Line Condominium, a 42 story high residential building is situated in the Jatutak Area, 300 metres from Mochit BTS skytrain station. The concept of the landscaping design mainly derives from the history of the State Railway of Thailand which has its railway hub in Jatujak. The Line Condominium represents the idea of ‘travelling’ to different natural destinations. The Sales Gallery for The Line Condominium continues the main concept of the condominium project, the main railway hub of Bangkok and a place of transit interchanges. It uses the intertwining pattern of the railway lines in the landscaping design. This pattern is translated into a lath façade wrapping around the sales gallery building and continuing along with the landscape. The main purpose of this lath façade is to create a different feeling to the renovated sales gallery building so that its users or commuters passing by the site sense its uniqueness. Moroever, the play in the variation in the angle of each of the façade fins can be seen as the translation of the branches of the trees which grows naturally in different directions, providing movement and liveliness to the site.
Master Plan
Section A feature of the existing site is a large Banyan Tree standing in front, greeting visitors and pedestrians as they walk pass. Our intention is to preserve the tree and emphasize its importance and value along with the site. This is done by partitioning a 5 metre radius area around the tree so that all access to the tree is restricted. The landscaping design reflects this where all hardscape elements such as pavement and gravel are offset beyond the radius area leaving only softscape elements so that water and air will be able to penetrate easily into the tree’s roots. Furthermore, existing ground level is retained around the tree and backfilling is strictly prohibited. All in all, the sales gallery for the Line Condominium combines the aesthetic qualities of the ‘railway’ concept while also considering the existing environmental conditions of the site and blends them together in a seamless manner.

Pre-Thesis Project Landscape Infrastructure
Under Express Way Along Pradit Manutham Road Landscape Architecturure Student Project The expressway network in Bangkok which is linked to different areas to solve traffic problems is important. The potential for linking these areas to the area beneath the Expressway may have the potential to connect green areas. The water system and lifestyle of the city as well. At present, the area under many expressways has deteriorated. There is such a misuse as It is a wrecked car on the road. Is the mingling of teens A waste collector Some have access to the area for personal use. And some are open spaces lacking development. The crossing of this special route also divides the original area into two sides, thus disconnecting the lifestyle of people on both sides of the Expressway. As a result, the area beneath the Expressway will have the potential to transform the urban lifestyle and restore the original environment. This will make this connection unite throughout the city. Bangkok was founded in 1782. Originally, the city had a small area around the Grand Palace. Later, more people came to live in Bangkok. The city grew even more in the east, and the reign of King Rama IV allowed the new moat to be enlarged to the east of Bangkok. Later on, there were more Chinese and Westerners, so the neighborhoods such as Yaowarat, Phahurat and Silom were born. It is far from the old Phra Nakhon area, which makes it necessary to connect. Trams take place in Bangkok, the first land transportation system in Thailand. And later in the year. 2472 The bridge of the Buddha. This caused the first connection between Bangkok and Thonburi. As Bangkok’s rapid growth, coupled with an increase in the number of people living in Bangkok and the arrival of migrants and workers, has resulted in the shift of agricultural and green space to commercial buildings. Make housing need to move to the suburbs with cheap land. And back to work and living in urban areas. This resulted in the creation of many roads connecting Bangkok. And followed by car trouble. Until in 1981. This is the way to raise the level to solve the problem. And there is an escalation of the elevated highway. Within 30 years, the elevated elevation can cover areas throughout Bangkok. But the number of vehicles on the road that has increased is likely to result in traffic problems. When a large number of highways crosses the expressway, it is neglected. And with inappropriate use, it can endanger life and property. With the potential for this connection, it is desirable to improve the area under the Expressway to have the potential to connect areas of the city and connect people’s lifestyles without the need to use them. The road system of the road, which pollutes it.
Pre-Thesis Project Landscape Infrastructure
Under Express Way Along Pradit Manutham Road Landscape Architecturure Student Project The expressway system in Bangkok consists of six major routes, the first of which is the Expressway System. Chalerm Phra Nakhon It starts from Din Daeng to the pier with a distance of 8.9 kilometers. It was opened in 1981 and has a 55 km elevation from Burapa to Bangpakong. This is the longest lift in the world. Until. In 2010, it is evident that the expressway system in Thailand is developing rapidly and rapidly in order to accommodate the expansion of the city and the increasing urban population. The image shows the routes of the Tuk Tuk Expressway connecting the areas of Bangkok and the Diagram. The right hand side also shows the intersection of the points in each route. Some expressways have open drainage systems on both sides. Some routes have irrigation canals. Some routes are not suitable for use, such as It is a car wreckage where the accident on the street is a parking van, a fire brigade selling food. Is the occupation of the homeless If not improved, it may be spread into a wide area of deterioration. And some areas are open space. There are no developments, and the right-hand diagram illustrates the continuity of the various expressways. And also shows the intersection with the road. And waterways Including up and down the expressway. That creates a large green area of the city.

Under Express Way Along Pradit Manutham Road Landscape Architecturure Student Project The image shows the green areas in eastern Bangkok, separating the green areas into three categories: the park area The green area of the spot, the descent, the expressway, and the green open area are not utilized or are private areas. It can be seen that there are large areas throughout Bangkok. The area beneath the Expressway may have the potential to connect many green areas to ecological beliefs. Lifestyle and water system The ratio of green area to population in Thailand is only 0.7, which in the United States is 40 in the United Kingdom is 23 Singapore is 10.90, the standard value of organizations is about 15-16, which is. Thailand also has very low green areas in urban areas as compared to standard and other countries.
Pre-Thesis Project Landscape Infrastructure
Under Express Way Along Pradit Manutham Road Landscape Architecturure Student Project Image of canal network in East Bangkok area. There are several lines crossing and connecting to the area below the Expressway, where the area beneath the Chalong Rat Expressway, during the Pradit Manutham Road The canal branch of the Ladprao Canal can be traversed through which can be drained into Saen Saep Canal and Prakhanong Drainage Tunnel. It sees the potential of the area beneath the Expressway to have the potential to drain the northern reaches of the Saen Saeb Canal, and the potential for diversion into water retaining areas when water flows down from the north and high sea. Can not drain into the sea It is imperative that water must be retained before draining at sea level. The Diagram on the right shows the potential of an area of 200 rai beneath the Chalong Rat Expressway. If the digging of the area at a depth of 1 meter throughout the project will be able to retard about 320,000 cubic meters, compared with other areas of water retention, such as the Rama 9 pond can support only 10,875 cubic meters. Or Makkasan can support 261,600 cubic meters of water. The area beneath the expressway has the potential to be used as a flooded area of Bangkok. And the image below shows Bangkok’s floodplains during the great flood of late 2011.

Scenic view of the open area of the rise and fall of the expressway. The Ram Intra Road. This shows the process of natural regeneration and the length of the development of the area, starting with the introduction of space and space, as well as permanent structures in the area out of the total area. Then start the process of natural regeneration by planting a small plant that is a leading plant, such as Caspian grass, so that it can retain moisture and create conditions suitable for the regeneration of nature in the area. Later, it began to plant perennial trees, such as seedlings, so large that the greenhouse has helped shade the area to prevent direct heat to the area. Later on, large trees with different canopy levels created the level of canopy, which would be beneficial for ecological restoration. And when the ecosystem regenerates to the right stage, the area is developed. Initially, the area is connected by floating paths from the ground. In the future, the area will be developed as a sports area and park for proper use.

The form of the receiving area can be adjusted by the amount of water retained in the lake. If there is no water during the dry season. Can be an activity For example, become a football field. Or during high water levels Water activities such as boating, small boat competitions Or Loy Krathong. The maximum holding capacity for this area is approximately 5 rai, at a depth of about 2 meters, which holds approximately 16,000 cubic meters of water, which is more than Rama 9.
