This project is part of a city refurbishment project, where stands the implementation of a new tramway line, beetween Chatillon and Viroflay, two suburbian cities in the Paris metropolitan area. The project is an opportunity for the city to create a efficient link with all the urban surrounding typologies, which are all different and set in many different ways. To the building scale, the way the building is stands makes an empty space on the corner. The implementation supplies a new urbanity, filled with shops and services, planned on the ground floor. All these facts contribute to the place quality. The major issue of the project is to create a
building typology in break with traditionnal housing units ,and at the same time, matching small housing buildings. Vernacular architecture is frequent in the surrounding area, as well as socialist modern architecture. The project, consequently, introduces a new style in the city area. This style represents the internal organization and flat planning design. The circulation cores have been optimized to focus the budget on quality and confort in the apartments. All units are equipped with loggias making a filter between inside and outside. The building has been designed with a special care to the environnemental requirements.

out from the north and west wings of the building, to be the major part of the project. The basement is standing on an extisting boiler room to support a wood framed building, choosen for its lighty weight.
The location is an asset for the project though. The position is singular and intermediary between the existing context, made with forest and buildings. The project can be considered as a block in the site. It is totally oriented towards the university and creates a special relation between the city and the wood spaces.
The facades are insulated by the skin of the building and cladded with croncrete panels and wood clerestory.
The student housing building is designed with minimalist shapes, reflecting a rigorous and rationnal plan, distributing 60 housing units including many services: common room, housekeeper’s room, laundery... The housing block located in the north stands
The design of the building enveloppe provides a very efficient termcal performance to reach a french certification (THPE), expected by the client. This project is one of the first five floors wood buildings built in France. It has been qualified as an innovative building by the architectural press and was awarded for its environemental consideration.

This project is a second step study on this site, following a program modification and a new ground area availaibility. The first study lines have not been given up. But the possibility to design a more innovative project appeared clearly. We had to respect the existing context, really traditional in Versailles and satisfy the necessity to design a more innovative project. We made the choice to create an enveloppe, as a wrapping material, folded in different ways to make a roof, and in rules with the local building act. This kind of shelter includes housing units in a compact and singular shape. The building is designed with traditionnal roofing technics but is insulated by the outside to get a more efficient heat performance.

This competition included a partnership with a general contractor. The project consits in the construction of 45 housing units with a special attention to the heat performance. The building is standing at the corner of a ground area tht is specific because of a major constraint. The constructibility is about 3040 sqm and the program is about 3035 sqm. We made the decision to work by sequences, using mass withdrawals and material diversity to break the bigness of the building and reach a better context integration. Then, the program has been developped to respect the budget enveloppe and the specification of the contract with the client including the environmental recquirements. This constraint has been taken account thanks to studies on the building compacity, avoiding the expensive cost of technical specification.

The city of Mons in Belgium was selected to be the European Culture Capital in 2015. In preparation to this event, the city has to build new projects to extend its cultural space capacity in order to accomodate the future visitors. This project aims at being the core center of the event. Based on an existing heritage building in addition to a contemporary extension. The existing building is maintained in its initial shape from outside. The facade will be restored in the most similar appearance of the first construction. The extension plays the role of the main entrance from the street. In its position, it encloses an existing courtyard and continue the original shape of the street. Designed with white concrete and wide glazed windows, it is in a strong contrast with the existing building.

Ville de Grigny SCOPING 25300000 sqm 7300 000 â‚Ź design and construction 2015
This project aims at transforming and enhancing the second biggest residential building complex in France. The public administration wanted to launch this project because of the lack of safety raising there. An urban transformation including new public spaces became necessary. Indeed, the contextual spatial complexity and the landowning divisions contributed to the progressive public space deterioration for many years. The landowning transformation and spatial reshaping were crucial elements for the general embelishment of the area. The general volume was modified in a way that flattened the space and created physical and visual connections. Car parks have been re-organized and refurbished, then, a large part of the outside spaces has been vegetated. This project was an opportunity to up-date and up-grade the accessibility for disable people and to improve the fire safety.

Public presentation
This study was purchased by a city corporation including many cities located in the eastern part of the suburbian area of Paris. Many suburbians cities face a growing population phenomenom, due to inner city increasing prices for living. This brought new needs for the public decision makers, as to control and shape the urban development. The main issue was, at first, to locate the most fit spaces able to absorb new people concentration. friche
Population growing is considered negative by the local population. In this way the project aims at proving that city development could be a positive thing by revitalizing the economy and improving spatial existing situations. The project focused on three area typologies, as city-edges, mobility cores, and rather lowdensity situations. Then, for each typology, a scenario was developed, shaping new buildings, taking in count the existing situation and creating a new way of living. A special attention to interaction between outdoor spaces and interior spaces was paid to the design. This study allows the city to make an integrated relation with citizens. Citizens xere involved in the design process thanks to public concertation.

TRAIN STATION DEVELOPEMENT Chambery, Savoye, FRANCE

Chambery Metrop么le AREP Engineering Alexandre Chemetoff Feasibiliy
Chambery is a mid-size city located at the centre of major train lines such as Lyon, Torino and lot of ski resorts in Alpina. As many cities in Europe, the train station has been designed outside the city and then, many industrial activities have emerged around the station. Then, the context, due to the geographical situation, has to deal with different altitudes. Therefore, the rails have divided the city in two parts withconnections. So public decisionmakers decided to purchase an urban design project that could galvanyze the local economy and by this way, draw a link between the two paths of the city. The project aims at creating a shared space, recognizable by a specific materiel cladding. A special care was given to the innovative and sustainable way of moving. The roof of the station is used as a public space, providing a new way to see the city, as a balcony on the landscape.

URBAN DEVELOPMENT Toulon, Var, FRANCE
Client Engineering company Urban planner Studies
Toulon Meditérrannée AREP Engineering AREP Ville Feasibiliy
This project is part of a wide developement strategy based on the partnership between Italy, France, and Spain. Indeed, these neighbouring countries face an increasing population growing rate along the major mediteranean cities. A future networwing project is on the table for the next 15 years. A new train line connecting all the major mediterranean cities, as well as, Genoa, Nice, Canne, Toulon, Marseille, Perpignan and Barcelona . Each city is connected by the mediterranean see and the boat-cruises, but the train lines, planned to be a high speed line could accelerate the displacements and reduce the moving time.
Some of the previous cities are known for their touristical interests, some have strong infrastructure for the commercial exchanges between north africa and Europe. The project called «South metropolitan Rainbow» could be a great opportunity to improve the economical context and consequently connect this city to the european network. The city of Toulon, is at first known for its historical and military harbour. In the 17th century, the harbour has been strenghten with the fortification system of Vauban.
As an industrial harbour, the city has been divided by strong infrastructures allowing national exchanges and distributions. Carways and railways crossed the city and generated strong barriers and enclaves.
In the twentieth century the harbour has been extended in an industrial way. Many factories, warehouses and infrastructure have been set in this way.
In this project the main difficulty was to find a solution mixing confortable public spaces and affordable mix-used buildings.
In the second part of the century, the economy fostered immigration and consequently new constructions.
The major stake of the city renewal is the regeneration of non-used area of ground, that are disconnected from the city. Some of the non-used spaces are well located and create opportunities for citiy development and improvement.
The result is a mix between multi-height buildings organized on garden ground, open for public activities and workers entertainment.
