PROFILE Being a architecture student at Syracuse University I am part of a community and working ambiance that has given me skills ranging from architectural to social aspects. As a Cypriot who grew up in Dubai, there is a lot I have taken from my diverse background and I feel it is important to integrate this experience in my college career. I am always open to new people, opinions and ideas. It is a key goal of mine to keep this attitude in my profession.

1 SYRACUSE OFFICE BUILDING COMPREHENSIVE STUDIO PROFESSOR BRUCE ABBEY

CREATING A NEW PUBLIC ‘PIN’ IN THE CITY FABRIC OF SYRACUSE THAT RELATED TO THE URBAN SITUATION, BUS AND PEDESTRIAN ROUTES WITHIN DOWNTOWN. WITH THE CHANGING CLIMATE OF SYRACUSE, THE PROJECT FOCUSES ON CREATING A FLUID TRANSITION INTO A SHELTERED PUBLIC ATRIUM THAT CAN ALLOW THE LOCAL PEDESTRIANS TO ACCESS THE DIFFERENT PRIVATE PROGRAMS OF THE BUILDING.

WITH THE GROWING MARKET OF LONDON, THE NEED OF HOUSING IS GREAT. FOCUSING ON THE DEVELOPING AREA OF SOUTHBANK, IT IS EVIDENT THAT THERE ARE ‘GAPS’ WITHIN THE URBAN FABRIC WITH THE POTENTIAL TO REFORM AND CREATE A NEW HOUSING COMPLEX.

THE STRATEGY IS TO FILL THE GAPS OF CERTAIN BLOCKS WITH HOUSING SO THAT THE EDGE IS ACCENTUATED AND DENSIFIED. THE TRADITIONAL ENGLISH TERRACE HOME IS OPEN AIR + PLATFORM ACCESS RETHOUGHT BY DESIGNING THE UNITS ARE IN DOUBLE REVERSE. HEIGHT ENTERING THE HOME THROUGH A PUBLIC URBAN FARMING COURTYARD INTO THE LIVING SPACE, DINING AND FINALLY THE BEDROOM. THIS CREATES A NEW FORM OF URBAN URBAN DWELLING AS IT FILTERS FROM THE PUBLIC STREET TO THE FARM MARKET LIVING SPACE PRIVATE HOME SPACE SPACE

3 ROME URBANISM CIVIC CENTER

CREATING AN URBAN INTERVENTION IN THE ANCIENT CITY CONTEXT OF ROME, ITALY. LOCATED NEAR ROMA TERMINI, SEVERAL GOVERNMENTAL BUILDINGS, THE ANCIENT DIOCLIETIN BATHS AND THE SAPIENZA UNIVERSITY OF ROME. THE PROGRAM CONSISTED OF A PUBLIC LIBRARY, CIVIC COURTHOUSE, CITY HALL AND RESIDENTIAL URBAN FABRIC.

5 ROOSEVELT ISLAND RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX PROFESSOR ELIZABETH KAMELL

AN URBAN INTERVENTION ON ROOSEVELT ISLAND THAT COMBINES THE NEED OF HOUSING OF NYC WITH THE URBAN TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE SUBWAY AND THE COMMERCIAL ASPECT OF THE CITY. THE SECTIONAL PROJECT LOOKS AT THE DIFFERENT FORMS OF DWELLING FROM 100 FEET BELOW GROUND TO 140 FEET ABOVE, ACCENTUATING THE LINES BETWEEN THE TWO. 39
