Project under construction 2020 - 2021
Design consultancy David Delgado Arquitectos Client: District Secretariat of Education of Bogota D.C.
District Educational Institute La Paz School Type: Educational Building Site: Marsella District, Bogotá Cr. 69 #9C Bis Area: 9409m2 Lead Architect: Giuliano de Vecchis
Developed Tasks: Plans for urban curatorship review, development of preliminary project from space details to construction details and supporting in technical coordination of engineering, landscaping and SED projects.
The project is located on a property between party walls whose shortest boundaries are in front of parks and a road. The longer boundaries are adjacent to high-rise residential buildings. For the project, a composition was sought that would allow the high-rise school to double the open areas by means of a cultural platform in which a patio is confined, which seeks to separate the school from the neighboring apartment towers, and forms the basis for a high-rise bar that contains the classroom program.

Towards the parks we sought to generate active edges by displacing the program that could serve for this polyvalence with the city, allowing the project to be conceived by the community as a cultural center.

Programa Main Programme
The project is conceived as a school with a large programmatic platform located on a site whose surface area was sufficient to generate volumes at different heights that respond to the context and adjacent buildings. It is adjacent to the new development of an Alameda that ends in a park with large multi-sport courts. The composition is divided into three programmatic blocks, the first consists of a staggering of classroom modules that respond to early childhood and laboratories. The second is a program head compatible with urban cultural activities that can eventually be opened to the city and that faces the park mentioned above. The third is a bar in height of classrooms that allows the Alameda to be paramentar from a base of monumentality and urban landmark for the sector of La Palestina.

As an educational facility on a site with a very steep slope, it was proposed that the volume of classrooms adopt the curvature of the terrain for ease of construction. The project contemplates the walkable roof of the building as its second floor, so that the building descends until it reaches the lowest point of the site.
H
To take advantage of the difference in heights, a playful viewpoint is proposed on the second floor and an open-air amphitheater at the lowest point of the schoolʼs recreational areas.

Kindergarten Childrenʼs Utopia
Type: Educational Building Site: Lambeth District, London 20 Carlisle Lane Area: 1773 m2 Developed Tasks: The project assignment consisted of two stages for the development of a kindergarten. First, the schematic design of the program and the urban standard was developed, followed by an early development of the buildingʼs constructive and technological component.
Childrenʼs Utopia is a pedagogical proposal that serves for the new experiences of a growing human being and also to the city. The site is located in a property whose longitudinality is given to the east and west, so that the great visuals are given to the park and the gardens of the neighbors of the property. As the sidewalk is not sufficient for the arrival of the children, the secondary road to the north is used so that the access to the school is over an urban walkway to the access. The school provides its corridors with play and learning spaces so that the entire building is a third teacher for the student. The park runs between classrooms creating a mutualism between nature and the building so that the childʼs experience is well complemented. It is proposed to leave the large spaces of the building facing the main road so that it can be used by the community when the school is closed. The playground is bordered by the trees in the park to the south and the building, creating a controlled landscape in both the playground and classrooms. The terrace is also habitable with a perimeter vegetable garden and sports area. The colorful envelope provides solar protection for the classrooms and textures to reinforce the idea that the school itself, in addition to being an example of society, is also a great pedagogical space for the children.

Apartment Complex Avatar Reservado Type: Apartment Complex Site: Ciudad Salitre, Bogota Area: 57000m2
Developed Tasks: The development of the project took more than four years, I worked on it intermittently from internship to my second year of professional work in DDA. Among the responsibilities acquired during that time were the verification of standards, deliveries to the curatorship, development of details by space of communal spaces and apartments in areas such as kitchens and bathrooms, development of fixed furniture and technical coordination support with engineering projects.
The project is located in the parking lot of the Salitre Plaza Shopping Center. It is a typology of facing towers with an interstitial space given to the common areas with a set of topography similar to a pyramid which serves to assume parking lots on the first level, in addition to its three basements. For this project we sought to return as much green space as possible to the owners, so that the roofs of both towers contain cultural and recreational spaces in a closed circuit. The project is classified as a pioneer in Bogota under LEED Gold certification for its capacity for sustainability in environmental, economic and social dimensions. The building is powered by solar panels and a rainwater collection system on the entire open area of the site, thus reducing energy and water consumption by 60%, complying with the sustainability parameters of New Projects in the 2009 version of LEED.

Open Private Competition 2021

Competition for the Design of Emblematic Projects for Public Space and Interior Gardens of the San Juan de Dios Hospital Complex Type: Urbanism + Heritage Intervention Localización: Historical Center, Bogotá Area: 3.3 ha Lead Architect: Nicolás Paz Developed Tasks: Designated as coordinator of the competition, I fulfilled the responsibilities of managing the landscaping, architecture and urban planning teams for the development of the proposal. I led the process of conceptualization, architectural development and presentation of the proposal, working directly with the team in these processes. It was intended to be a horizontal work where the role of coordinator was focused on the resolution of challenges encountered throughout the process.
The competition sought the urban architectural resolution of the interior gardens of the Hospital Complex and its immediate relationship with the city in the northeastern sectors of the complex, especially in the Foundational Garden and Gardens Between Pavilions. It was proposed that these gardens be opened to the city by means of a museological promenade that would incorporate Hortúa Avenue (due to its historical character) in its narrative.
Biotic Urban Connection
The gardens contemplated a spontaneous growth of native vegetation that, instead of seeking to organize it by means of pruning and extraction, should be valued as a historical layer of the complex that should be enhanced. It was interpreted as a claim of the Andean forest and the Andean mountain range to occupy the savannah. It was proposed that the Jardin Fundacional (20) be preceded by a semi-public plaza from which the pergolas bordering the garden would be extended and that a new public plaza would be created as an urban stage at the intersection of 10th Avenue and Hortúa Avenue through the promenade along Hortúa Avenue.

Competition for the Design of the Day Center and Integral Wellness Center Compensar Type: Complex Facilities Site: Ciudad Salite, Bogota Area: 13.000m2 Lead Architects: Xilena Vega Nicolás Paz • Recognition: Third Prize Developed Tasks: Joint coordination with Architect Xilena Vega. We led the process of conceptualization, architectural development and presentation of the proposal, incorporating us directly with the team in these processes. We also managed the structural, human safety and urban planning consulting.
The project is inserted into the environment by opening a corner of parks and squares intertwined by the building and its more public activities. Intertwined by the building and its more public activities. Terraces that recreate several second floors on the base of the building become part of the urban life, while the more intimate activities are arranged among diverse landscapes of activity superimposed on the top of a tower that overlooks the surrounding landscape and becomes part of it. surrounding landscape and becoming part of it. The building understands the activity of its spaces not as an architectural program but also as a bet that the activity itself can turn the project into an extension of the city. At the same time, it constitutes its internal (architecture) and external (city) relations in two principles that dialogue with each other to externalize the Compensar experience and thus turn it into a great metropolitan corner: 1. Urban Basement as a strategy of urban permeability, the building responds to the activity of the city. The building responds in its multiple second floors to the activity of the city and generates life during the day and night to extend the activity to bring citizens together. 2. Ecosystemic Tour starts from the idea that all users of the building should experience a physical, emotional, spiritual, cognitive and social activity together with an enveloping nature so that the upward circulation of the building is perceived as a movement of the city. the building is perceived as a movement not only of people but also of ecosystems.

Inspirational Hostel 2021: A Refuge for Art and Memory Type: Cultural Facilities Localización: Mampujan Ruins, Montes de María. Colombia Área: 2700m2
The mourning rituals that honor the absence of those who were taken from this world by violence in Colombia have become a worldwide reference of memory and peace.
Site Location 2
10km
The Weavers of Mampuján, in their exercise of memory, have embraced textile art as a form of expression to record the narratives of war and seal them as promises of non-repetition. In their narratives made art, they tell of that night in 1991 when armed forces came in the name of death to the region of Montes de María. The town of Mampuján was left deserted for one night in a hurry to abandon their homes before it was too late. Now, the children and grandchildren of the Tejedoras live in a land that barely consolidates peace in Nuevo Mampuján, the current settlement a couple of kilometers to the south. Between Nuevo Mampuján and the ruins of Mampuján, a river links their stories. Their present and their past. It carries in its waters the memory of those who are not forgotten and the commitment to inhabit the territory without hatred. The art of the inhabitants of Mampuján contains a solemnity that deserves to be shared with the world. The Refuge is located on the other side of the river, next to the ruins of Mampuján, on the slope of one of the thousands of hills of Montes de María. Artists from all over the world will find a place for art and reflection. They will find a place among variant greographies and mistimed histories. El Refugio will provide a loom for the Weavers between the hill and the river. It will seek to bring the exercise of memory through art to the entire region as a promise of peace.

Art Workshop
Mount and Cavern The Studies The studios are made up of a room at different levels to take advantage of different heights and generate different frames over the landscape. The courtyard is located below the roof as an individual work space for the artists. The polyvalent option of this space is defended so that the artists can inhabit it as they wish.
The courtyard leads to the bedroom area, the lowest point of the studio, and to the bathroom and storage area. The bathroom is embedded on the hill with the idea that instrospection is combined with geography in a space analogous to the cave.

Memory Loom Room
Water and Mourning The Riverʼs Loom The Loom materializes the need to generate spaces for the Weavers of Mampuján and the community of Nuevo Mampuján to occupy the site of Ruinas through art and the rites of collective memory.
On the other side of the river, an open-air gallery is being developed so that the weavers and guest artists can find a common place to share and get to know each otherʼs work.
