Dear WHJA Horse Show Exhibitors and Friends, This is a special year – the WHJA turns 50! We hope you will be able to join us for the final show of our local circuit in our Golden year! We are excited to be able to celebrate such a huge milestone with all of you! We have some special events planned throughout the weekend including a $250 WHJA Hunter Derby and a $250 WHJA Gambler’s Choice. We are again offering ringside tables for these exciting classes and some great exhibitor’s parties. The fun continues on Sunday with special classes running only in the covered ring, but with TWO judges and open numerical scoring throughout the day. We will be running the WHJA Medal Finals open to ALL WHJA members – this is a chance to compete head-to-head at the end of the year in a championship type setting. Everyone will have a chance to show their horsemanship knowledge by participating in the WHJA Horsemanship Challenge! This will be a written, multiple choice test that will be combined with a medal score to determine an overall Horsemanship winner in four different age sections. We would like to extend a heart-felt THANK YOU to all of our members, sponsors, volunteers, and participants, past and present, for making the WHJA what it is today. We look forward to seeing you in Oshkosh to celebrate, compete, and most of all have fun!

Sincerely, Emily Elek, WHJA Board President

USEF and USHJA Membership: USEF membership is not required for Riders and Owners competing at Local Member shows. USHJA membership is not required for Riders and Owners competing at Local Member shows, unless the rider wishes to participate in the USHJA Affiliate Equitation Award program. Please see the Medal Classes section of this prize list for more information. Horses showing at the WHJA Local Member shows are required to have a USEF Horse Identification Number (or a Horse Recording Number). USEF Rules Regarding Horse Recording Any horse competing in a USEF local member competition must have a Horse ID number ("HID") through the USEF. For Local Member Competitions such as the WJHA shows, or for competitors not interested in year-end points at rated shows, the Horse Identification Number ("HID") is a simple option. A free HID can be easily requested in advance through the USEF web site, at www.usef.org. The horse owner is not required to be a USEF member to obtain an HID. You can obtain an HID number at the horse show office prior to the show, however, beginning in 2007, the USEF has imposed an administrative fee for HID numbers issued at a competition. We strongly encourage anyone who is unsure if their horse is recorded to visit the USEF web site at www.usef.org/content/searches/horseRecordingSearch/ and double check. Recording your horse online will take only a few minutes and will save you time and money in the horse show office. USEF Rules Regarding Minors Operating Motorized Vehicles: Minors who do not have a valid driver's license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver's license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/ or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. (If your competition bans motorized vehicles, please contact our office for further instruction.) Dogs are not permitted to be loose on the show grounds and must be kept on leash and restrained by a handler or tied at all times. NO LOOSE DOGS WILL BE TOLERATED! 8

12 or more obstacles are set up in the arena from 2'9"-3'6". Each obstacle carries from 10 to 120 points according to its difficulty. Combination obstacles are not allowed. The obstacles must be built so that they can be jumped in both directions. The points allocated to the obstacles may be repeated at the discretion of the Course Designer. The competitor is credited with the number of points carried by each obstacle that he has jumped correctly. No points are awarded for an obstacle knocked down. Each competitor has 45 (minimum) to 90 seconds (maximum). During this time, he may jump all the obstacles he wishes in any order and in any direction. He may cross the starting line in either direction. The starting line must be provided with four flags; a red and a white flag at each end of the line. Ringing the bell declares the end of the round. The competitor must then cross the finishing line in one direction or the other to allow his time to be recorded. If he does not cross the finishing line, he is placed last of the competitors with the same number of points. The finishing line must be provided with four flags; a red and a white flag at each end of the line. If the fixed time is reached at the moment when the horse is already taking off (front hooves off the ground), this obstacle counts if it is correctly jumped. Any obstacle knocked down during a round will not be rebuilt; if it is jumped again, no points will be credited to the competitor. The same applies for knocking down an obstacle in disobedience or for displacing a lower part positioned in the same vertical plane. In the case of a disobedience without a knock-down, the competitor may jump that obstacle or continue to the next obstacle. Each obstacle may be jumped twice. The act, voluntarily or not, of jumping an obstacle for the third time or of passing between the flags of an obstacle for the third time or of passing between the flags of an obstacle already knocked down does not incur elimination. However, the competitor does not score the points allotted to this obstacle. All disobediences are penalized by the time lost by the competitor. The competitor must stop after a fall. Nevertheless he is placed according to the points obtained up to the moment of his fall disregarding the time. There will be a "Joker Fence" up to 4' in height. The joker is required to be jumped within twenty seconds after the fixed time has expired and after the competitor has crossed the finishing line, only one attempt is allowed. If it is jumped correctly, the Joker is worth 200 points, BUT if it is knocked down, 200 points must be deducted from the total points obtained so far by the competitor. The competitor who has obtained the highest number of points will be declared the winner. In the event of equality of points, the fastest time taken between the starting line and the finishing line will decide. In the event of equality of points and time for first place, there will be a jumpoff according to the same formula with a fixed time of 40 seconds.

At Equine BodyWorks, we focus on results…because when your horse’s body doesn’t work, life’s just not as much fun! Before Bodywork

After Bodywork These two images are the same horse. The image on the right was taken after an hour and twenty minutes of bodywork. He was standing square in both images.

Upon riding this horse a day after the above bodywork session, this horse’s trainer said she had never felt him move so balanced and that he now could easily do a flying lead change to the right, something that was previously a huge struggle for him.

Solutions that Reveal and Relieve your Horse’s Discomfort  Integrated Equine Performance Bodywork™ to find and release accumulated tension & improve performance.  Thermal Imaging to let you SEE what your horse feels. A full body scan with veterinary interpretation gives you and your local vet more information about your horse’s body & ailments.  Saddle Fit Analysis to assess the saddle’s fit to horse and rider.
