LODHA VENEZIA PROFESSIONAL WORK LOWER PAREL, MUMBAI
Lodha Venezia has emerged as the most successful development in Central Mumbai. I was a part of the design team, which comprised of 15 architects and coordinated with engineers, M.E.P Consultants and the project managers. The 2,3, and 4 bed residences offer stunning views of the Eastern Seaboard, world class finishes and are, surrounded by a beautiful Venetian landscape, luxurious amenities and a Shikarband Jain Mandir. I helped design the façade element and lobby wall detail as an intern. I also helped make working drawings for the final draft tender. I was part of the team that made design decisions and took part in meetings and presentations. The location of this 68-floor residential sky scrapper is in Mumbai’s most upscale vicinity - Parel. Parel is an emerging business and lifestyle hub of infrastructure projects like Phase-2 of Monorail. Its strategic location endows it with Worli-Sewri Elevated Link road and Mumbai’s excellent access and connectivity to business, Port Trust’s plans to open land for entertainment and cultural centers. Upcoming development, showcase Parel’s promising future.

PREFAB REPTILE FIELD STATION TEAM OF 2 KOHLAPUR, INDIA
A 3000 sq. Ft field station designed for researchers working with reptiles situated in Kohlapur, India. Kohlapur has the largest population of the magnificent King Cobra in India. We designed peanut shaped individual repetitive modules which can be transported easily on site. The modules are light weight which can be easily installed and dismantled. The design of the field station uses sound understanding of the biological and behavioral characteristics of the reptile, to address and mitigate the reptile – human conflict. The swirl shape of the building helps remind the visitors and the local population of the importance of conservation of threatened and endangered species. The building helps integrate the outdoor and indoor spaces which create buffer zones, thereby resolving key issues of the forest department of human and reptile conflict by reducing the response time during the conflicts. The future success of the reptile biodiversity damage management depends on developing new technologies for the conservation of the reptile species as well as by community level education about reptile species and their conservation value in the ecosystem balance. The spaces provided help tackle these issue. 12

FLEXIBILITY
EXPANSION
THE LAB MODULE, SHOULD “ ENCOURAGE CHANGE” WITHIN THE BUILDING. THE BUILDING MUST ALLOW FOR REASONABLE CHANGE. MANY PRIVATE COMPANIES MAKE PHYSICAL CHANGES TO AN AVERAGE OF 25% OF THEIR LABS EACH YEAR. MOST ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS ANNUALLY CHANGE THE LAYOUT OF 5 TO 10 % OF THEIR LABS. OUR DESIGN HELPS INCORPORATE SUCH FLEXIBILITY BECAUSE OF THE COURTYARD SPACES AND THE FLEXIBILTY OF THE MODULES.
THE USE OF LAB PLANNING MODULES ALLOWS THE BUILDING TO ADAPT EASILY TO NEEDED EXPANSIONS WITHOUT SACRIFICING FACILITY FUNCTIONALITY. DESIGN REQUIREMENTS THE FOCUS OF THE DESIGN IS TO CONCENTRATE PRIMARILY ON THE CONSERVATION OF RARE HERPETO FAUNA SUCH AS SNAKES, PYTHONS, MINTOR LIZARDS, SMOOTH SNAKES, FROG AND TOADS AND CONSTANT MONITOING AND HABITAT MANAGEMENT AND RESTORATION.

ILLUMINE INDIVIDUAL PROJECT ACADEMIC WORK LUXURY RESORT - PALM BEACH ( SEAWOODS)
The focus of this design project was to build a structure which would overshadow the busy business district and act as a focal point of the area. The encumbered streets of seawoods, off the busy Palm Beach Road needed to be redesigned to relieve it of its various encumbrances. Enter Illumine. The site and the building requirements had cumulative effect on the final design of the resort. The design incorporates a bullet shaped structure attached to two winged structures coupled together to give it a semi open feel to the building. The neighbourhood ambience has also had major impact on the design requirements of the resort, a catalysing effect, focusing primarily on the major demographic of the area which is the working class.

PEAK INDIVIDUAL PROJECT ACADEMIC WORK SAN FRANSISCO
Sonoma and Napa valley are known for its wine country. My museum advertises the wine of Sonoma and napa valley wine collections. The wine of napa valley was deemed to be the best in the world after the Paris judgement of 1970, depicted in the movie bottle shock. Unfortunately not much attention is given to the potential of the wine in the United States. The site for the wine museum is downtown San Francisco. The site is strategically chosen at the junction of the Lombard street and the Hyde street. The site is at an elevated plateau in the centre of the city which currently is the George sterling memorial park. The site is placed in such a way that it gives a 360 degree view of entire San Fransisco from the Golden Gate Bridge on one side to the nob hill on another side. I took this as an opportunity for my museum because it will not only be a beacon from outside for people visiting San Francisco but also an informative and eclectic option of scenery from inside for the wine museum. The inside out is a concept which invites people from the outside to the inside. Once inside it traps the visitors and introduces them to a new sensorial experience of the wine world. As the visitors travel to the upper floors the design of the building guides them to in a such a way they can see the notable sites that San Francisco has to offer. The overall experience is one of information and publicising. 28

BEACON INDIVIDUAL PROJECT ACADEMIC WORK NEW MUMBAI
The newly developed township of New Mumbai lacks important commercial buildings and residential buildings. Famous as a sleepy city, the city was devoid of shopping malls. The site for the shopping mall is adjacent to the six lane palm beach road. The site is well connected with roads and railways. The main aspect of the design is to provide facades for display purposes. The distinct interior feature of the mall are its anchor shops and multiplexes. The tensile roof with an organic shape is one of the significant features of the building. A linear shape juxtaposed with a circular atrium gives it an interesting final look.

BIRD OBSERVATORY INDIVIDUAL PROJECT ACADEMIC WORK LATVIA
The Pape Nature Park in south-western Latvia opened in 2003 with the ambition of protecting the region’s wetlands. The nearly-11,000-hectare park includes important nesting grounds for 250 species of migrating birds within the marshes situated at the limit between the Papes Lake and the sea. The observation tower will be used primarily to record annual migratory habits of an estimated 50,000 birds, as well as to allow park visitors the opportunity to observe the park’s natural resources. First, the proposed structure permits users the ability to observe birds and other migratory animals in a manner that is simultaneously protective –visitors are concealed to some level from frightening off animals – and open to 360-degree views. Second, the observation tower has the capacity to be built with minimal disruption to the Pape Nature Park habitat. The observation tower is 11m tall and has two observation platforms. The design of the observatory keeps in mind the natural environment and blends in the with the surrounding seamlessly.

MASS HOUSING INCOME TAX COLONY, NERUL INDIVIDUAL PROJECT REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT ACADEMIC WORK NEW MUMBAI
A cost effective housing complex for the low and middle income groups. The design avoids cutting and filling of the coutours and maintains a natural terrain. The steeper slopes have bunglows and row houses giving them a scenic view. The climate is salubrious throughout the year. The buildings are placed with the high-rises on the very top and low rises at the bottom. Such an arrangement gives the inhabitants of the complex a valley view.

SUTRA JAPANESE CULTURAL CENTRE INDIVIDUAL PROJECT ACADEMIC WORK CHAMPAIGN, IL
The project comprises of multiple monolithic blocks resting on the prairie - land, open to the view of the arboretum at one corner and the japanese tea house at the other. This minimalistic approach was in response to the flatness of the prairies. The structures are at an axis of the site, aligned with the japanese tea house, the main artery roads and the arboretum.

PCM PROFESSIONAL WORK WORLI, MUMBAI
I was fortunate to intern at India’s pre- eminent Architectural firm of Architect Hafeez Contractor ( AHC). AHC is India’s most successful Architectural firm and has doted the skyline of Mumbai with numerous iconic skyscrappers. It is one of the largest architectural firms in the India. My internship entailed multiple exposures into the different facets of an Architectural firms corporate work environment from budgeting to building construction, it was comprehensive, rigorous and thorough. I worked on multiple residential skyscrappers and also redevelopment projects within the city centre, an example of which was the redevelopment plan, I worked on at PCM, Worli, Mumbai, where I was assigned the task to design the stilt and podium levels of the building. I was asked to design tender drawings for each of the floor rises. I also helped design the club house for this building. An internship of rich experiences.
