The moment has been captured from the construction of line, plane, and volume within the balance block.

An axonometric abstraction,emphasizing the binary elements beginning at the moment of plaster/wood connection.

This space is cast through making solid what is liquid.

The moment is created within the sections constructed. It makes physical the space it holds-together and alone.

The horizontal and vertical rhythm of pairs are transformed through repetition and layeringthough this pattern is random, it maintains a unified order.

Iterations through analysis, documentation and drawinghighlighting moments of arrival, threshold, and promenade 3 sections become one- REpresenting the space between what is actual and what is diagram.

Analysis:

The historic Clifton area is known as Cincinnati’s “first main street neighborhood.” The Ludlow shopping and dining district has an eclectic vibe, combining urban accessibility with the suburban comforts of its tree-lined walkable streets. The intersection at Clifton and Ludlow Avenues is the very heart of the community and primary path of circulation through and around this part of the city. The form generated from this site (Ludlow, Clifton, and Hosea Avenues) is the principal idea for the library design. The intersection is pulled into and through the building, thoughtfully meeting the site. The streets themselves as well as the traffic pattern of the location become the circulation path within the building, its source of natural light, and the defining elements of shape and volume. This relationship is easily perceived no matter where one is located within the building. From the exterior, these volumes are articulated by the long spans of glazing that appear to have been carved from the whole.
